It's funny to watch...kind of like the same as seeing a grown man be afraid of the boogie man.

If it happens in Church there needs to be an interpretation so others can be edified. If there is no interpretation is isn't Biblical.

It should only happen in Church before believers as it may cause unbelievers to think the speaker is possessed.

Most denominations see "Speaking in Tongues" as a one-time Miracle that happend in the Book of Acts when the early Church had lots of people from many languages and the Holy Spirit touch those at Pentecost so they could hear the message in their own language.

Other than that there really is no Biblical support for people speaking an unkown language for public consumption.

The real thing I think is great.

Speaking in Tongues:
You have a room and there are 10 people in this room from 10 different countries of the world.
A teacher comes into the room and speaks to the 10 people.
Each person hears the teacher in his language from the town he was raised in, and marvels that the others in the room can understand the teacher!

This will happen again soon, this is one who is filled with the holy Spirit!

It is a gift to all believers who honestly seek it, not just Pentecostals.

God is the same yesterday, today and always. There is nothing in the bible that says He took the gift of tongues away, so I don't know why some people believe it was only for the times of the apostles.

The Holy Spirit came to dwell with us after Jesus was crucified. It is the helper that Jesus promised us. To learn more about the day that happened, the day of pentecost, read Acts 2.

It depends on each person whether or not speaking in tongues is a reliable source of God's word. Most denominations believe differently. If you want to go to a church that believes in speaking in tongues, you need to try a penecostal church. I am a part of an Assemblies of God church, which is penecostal. We believe in speaking in tongues, and that it is possible for it to happen today. I hear someone speak in tongues almost every time I go to church. Some people find it strange, others find it refreshing. In the end, it really matters what you personally believe.

Interesting question! Not sure where your question is coming from but I will answer. Speaking in tongues is a heavenly language. Its communication with God, that simple. When you don't know what to pray, you can pray in spirit(tongues). Some may say it does not exist, but read your WORD and ask God for the gift and receive it.

Christians seem to think that 'Speaking in Tongues' means babbling incoherently. It is actually a kind of induced hysteria.

In the bible, the 'gift of tongues' meant that anyone could understand your speech, no matter what language they spoke. For example, someone who had the 'gift of tongues' could be speaking to a crowd in Greek, and people who DID NOT UNDERSTAND Greek would hear and understand the speaker as if he were speaking in their own language... just like the 'babblefish' in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Of course, just like the 'babblefish', this is pure horseshit. It was horseshit in biblical times... it is horseshit now.

Tongue-speaking is known in two ways in the Christian community (with different uses):

The gift of tongues - The purpose is to enable you to minister the gospel of Christ to others who speak other languages.

1 Corinthians 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Baptism of the Holy Ghost by EVIDENCE of speaking in tongues (unknown tongues) - This communication is intended SOLELY for communication with God. It is not meant for anyone else to understand BUT God, and someone listening may hear it as "gibberish". Nevertheless, it is real and it is a heavenly language spoken FOR the heavenly God.

1 Corinthians 14:2
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

I am one who speaks in unknown tongues, and it's beautiful to have that communication with The Father. I refrain unless I am amongst mature saints who also speak in unknown tongues to avoid confusing/confounding those who have no knowledge of this type of prayer.

Peace to you.
