How do I approach a really, really shy girl?
I am 17 and a senior in high school. Last week I finally talked to this girl I really like in the library after school. She is the really shy type so she doesn't start conversations at all. We don't even know each other's names but we hit it off pretty good. She started smiling and talking, etc. She doesn't go to the library often because she leaves school at lunch (the same time I do.) She takes the bus home after school so I see her walking through the hallway and she doesn't have much time to talk. My questions are as follows:

-Should I approach her through the hallway as she's leaving or wait for another chance in the library? (She goes like once every 3 weeks.)

-When I do approach her, what should I talk about to get things started?

-Where would be a good place to ask her out to? I don't want anything too strong but something to get the point across. (remember, she's 17 and really really shy. =)

-When would be a good time to ask her out?

Any help would be great.

I will be asking this question often to get different people's insight so I have a better general idea of what to do. =)

Oh how sweet! I use to be that very shy girl in school. I would say approach her in the hallway. You aren't supposed to talk in the library so she might not want to engage in a conversation there. Since you both have lunch at the same time you could offer to take her for lunch somewhere. You could start off by saying, "Hi we met in the library but I didn't catch your name....I enjoyed talking to you and wondered if I could take you out for lunch one day.

You should take it slow, that's for sure. First, you definitely need to feel the territory - that is - find out if she likes you, or if she is just being nice. To answer your questions, in order:

1. Definitely try to talk to her the very next time she sees you - cause in 3 weeks she might not recognize you anymore, or she could forget about the moment you two had.

2. Remind her about the day you met in the library. Try to talk to her about something she will be interested in, something she probably likes - a good book you need her to recommend it to you, or the one you read, or a school subject, or just some actual events..

3. Take it slow with asking her out. She will probably want to get to know you first - as a person, as a friend.. If you ask her before she starts feeling comfortable in your presence, she'll shy away for good, and you wouldn't want that, would you? - the right place - when you "accidentally" bump into her in the library..

4. In a month or so.

How shy are you? If you are not shy then go up and say Hi! then cut right to business. "I like you blah blah blah". I find that most girls that are shy don't want to date guys that are shy. It's just too much shyness in the relationship. However if you're not comfortable with that, then build up to it. Try to have a few conversations and gauge her body language/actions.

Ok, don't go to the library again, or it seems that you're stalking her. Try to approach in the hallway casually. When you get to her, ask her like, about sports she's involved in or clubs like, "So when's the next meeting?" and then bring up the date. Ask her out to like the movies, but take her pick..and ask her out like between classes..that looks casual. But, try not to make it look like a "date" because then she might get uncomfortable. Just be CASUAL..and don't freak if you mess up! Well, that's what I'd want a guy to do to me. Good luck =)

don,t come on too strong just ask her how she is and what books she reads, start up the conversation and take it from their, just ask questions light ones and open one where she will need to give a reponse. all the best.
