The grapefruit diet works for a short term loss. If you want to lose 10 or 15 pounds before a date or reunion or something special it is okay. If you want a more long term loss you need to really follow a doctor approved weight loss program. I have used the grapefruit diet by eating a grapefruit after every meal and before bed time. I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. Those were not large meals nor were they heavy in sweets, fried foods or any of the other things that we all know we are not supposed to eat. Good luck to you and don't forget that yo-yo dieting isn't good for you body.

My dad and I did the pink grapefruit juice diet. Every meal we had a glass of pink grapefruit juice. Of course we were also actually dieting too by eating less and eating healthier. I have no idea whether it helped us lose anything any faster.

Hey, he was paying for the food and preparing it. Who was I to complain?

If you eat only grapefruits twice a day .. and a normal 3rd meal .. sure .. it can work. But who wants to eat just grapefruits for the rest of their lives ? Just eat a balanced meal and excersise .. burn more calories than you take in .. your weight will then go down. Good Luck ! :)

Yep. All that fad stuff is only temporary. A diet has to be sensible and longstanding.
