i have heard some people calling people a numpty, what is one?

I am frequently a numpty! It's a friendly insult for someone who is a bit dim. For example: I put my tea bags in the fridge when I was unpacking my shopping, I am a numpty!

A 'numpty' is a way of saying your silly, it is a nice way to say it and I usually use it when one of my nieces scrapes their knees or such like.
