Back in my less successful days I worked part time jobs delivering pizzas. The average was usually about 3 dollars. I usually tip about 5 bucks. The amount doesn't matter that much, really it's the thought that counts. Trust me when I tell you that if you get a reputation for stiffing it gets around between the people who deliver, and service definitely begins to reflect that knowledge.

Contrary to some popular belief. Drivers do not get the delivery fee charged. What they get is either a flat rate per delivery, or a set per mile amount.

Of course! I usually tip $4 - 5 unless they are late. I worked as a delivery driver for about 8 months at Papa John's and I hated it when I wouldn't get a tip. The pay is very little and you get a little money for mileage but the reason we are delivering pizza is because people are too lazy to get off their bums to come and pick it up or to cook their family a real dinner. :-)

Yes I do..I usually only give $3, because the pizza company already adds a delivery charge to your order..which then goes to the pizza delivery guy. You get charged anywhere from $1- $2, so if I give them $3 they're getting about 5 bucks.

Ask the pizza shop if they have a deliver fee first... Pizza Hut (locally) does charge $2.00 for delivery, but doesn't actually give it to the driver. So I ususlly give about $5 total...The driver gets the difference of the deliver fee. If they don't have a fee, use your judgement, but never stiff em unless it was horriblt late. But beware, if you do stiff em, try not to order any 2-liters in the near future (drivers will shake the sh*t outta them before they get to your door!)

Most pizza shops DO compensate for the milage at the end of every pay period, not much but a few cents a mile....

Yes, you should always tip the driver. Most people see the delivery fee and decide not to tip. The driver never sees any of that "delivery fee". I usually tip $5.

Assuming he's on time and the pizza is still hot, I usually give him $3 or $4. If he's late, flippant, or the pizza isn't fresh, I'll round up to the nearest $2. (For example, if the total is $18.77, I'll give him $20.)

If they have a delivery surcharge only 10%. Otherwise, 20-25% depending on the service.

Yes. I do. I usually spend $10-$15 on food and I usually tip $5. I know that they don't make that much money so I think that it is a fair tip.
