I'm glad someone asked that question. Don't go to the one 86th street--eastside. I saw a roach, when that happened I told my boyfriend let's go and we did not pay.

Uno's is my favorite national pizza chain. I have eaten at Uno's locations in at least five states. I think Uno's service is like that of any national chain: the quality of server training varies from location to location and is enhanced (or detracted) by the quality of the individual providing the service. Unfortunately, I have noticed that the quality of the pizza does vary by location and even within location. I have had many excellent Uno's pizzas. I have also had many that were lacking in one way or another.
Let me mention how Uno's falls into the Chicago style world. The Uno's chain was previously known as Pizzeria Uno. The original Pizzeria Uno is actually in Chicago; it licensed the name but not the recipe to the chain (and apprently has taken back the name). The original Pizzeria Uno, like Gino's East, serves corn meal crust pizzas. Uno's does not have a corn meal crust. Uno's is also not stuffed pizza (like Giordano's). I don't like corn meal crust pizzas, though there are many others who do. My favorite Chicago style pizza is Lou Malnati's. Lou delivers anywhere in the country (think dry ice), but I think eating in house is the best.
I have lived in NYC for nine years. Previously, I lived in Chicago and spent time in various places in the midwest. I am always disheartened when I see some of those who grew up in NYC disparage that which didn't originate in NYC. As a pizza afficionado, I am particularly annoyed about the comments (some shared in this forum) regarding Chicago style pizza.
Comparing NYC style pizza and Chicago style pizza is like comparing apples and oranges; they are totally different. I prefer Chicago style pizza, and do like particular versions of NYC style pizza. Like most things related to food & drink, the preference is largely based on where I grew up. Preferring one style or the other style or both styles is great; disparaging what you don't like simply because you don't like it is ignorant.

i think i've had more bad experiences than good. i believe it depends on which location you go to. i've been to one where the crust of the pizza tasted stale and like cardboard. i went to a different one and the crust tasted like pure pastry... delicious!... but again, i've had more bad than good. now since this is common and not just my opinion, i won't be going back!

I work in NYC and I NEVER go this chain. When it first opened in the 90's...(I think), we tried it and just hated it. Sauce was off, cheese tasted funny (almost like fake cheese), we just overall hated it. Maybe it is because we have so many delicious places here in the city and in NJ that there is no reason for us to go to Uno. Just my opinion.

I think Uno's is OK but not as good as Giordanos. But at least I had good service. Sorry to hear that they weren't for you.

I really hate Chicago-style stuffed pizza. I've been to Uno's in Chicago, Baltimore and two in No Virginia.
Their regular pizza's are too contrived. Most I've had aren't that special. I did have a good one once...but that's it.
It's overrated, like most things from Chicago.

I totally agree with you on the service. The one I went to is the one on 3rd Ave and 10th st. It took them forever to service my table.
