I am a former FA officer and my I give you just my personal opinion of MOS' 13F & 13C?

13 Foxtrot (fire support spec) will allowyou to leave the the firing battery site to go out side the area and conduct target acquition operations. Something like the old forward observer that new 2LT were doing years ago. Your skill level 1 training intiniates this with training in map reading, land nav, laser ops and tactics. It is more action oriented than most other 13 MOS'.

13 Charlie (tactical automated fire control system) will require you to stay with your battery to work with the FDC NCO and fire control team. Not bad duty but I found that my guys (no women & SECRET clearance required...as with all FA assignments to my knowledge) typically preered to be out in the field conducting small unit actions.
Your skill level 1&2 training will focus on fire control, radio commo, running cables and the like.

Might want to check www.us-army-info.com for a complete overview. Both will require significant field training to complement the classroom training.

And always remember to wear your ear protection! Best of luck.

One of my best friends is a 13F. They work with the infantry. Other 13 series guys stay with the Field Artillery units. And yes, Airborne units (we're talking like 82nd or 173rd) do have 13 series.

I don't know what you mean by field vs classroom. If you're talking about what happens in Fort Sill during training, a Red Leg should be able to help you there.
