I want to put on some weight, and the obvious way to do it is to eat more. But I find that I really can't eat as much, or as fast as everyone else. Why??

I have the same problem. Ppl think skinny is by choice or some crazy diet, it's not always. Sometimes the hardest thing in the world for us is to gain just 5 LBS!!
One thing you can do is snack on foods that are high in protein & carbs. Peanut butter crackers, cheese & apples, english muffins w/ toppings. I make homemade potatoes everyday & this def. helps. Pasta is a very good choice too. I find that snacking keeps me eating more than I would regularly with only meals. Milk is a cheap source of good protein, so drink it regularly. Exercising is also good because you turn fat into muscle which weighs more (and looks nicer).
The key to eating more is planning & easy access. You should have something on hand at all times to make sure youre getting those cals. Pack lunches, or just bring snacks, buy lots of microwavable or toaster foods, things that are easy & fast to make, as well as light on your stomach.
The only reason I know a little bit about this is because I had the same problem, light eater (picky) & couldnt gain weight to save my life & I did a lot of research! Short of protein shakes (which are nasty & expensive) and just totally bingeing yourself, (which if youre like me, you are physically incapable of), the only real answer is to find a way to consume more cals than you are burning on a daily basis. Once you do gain the lbs you want, you have to consistently follow through with eating properly to keep them on, otherwise they will fall back off within a week & may give you stretch marks!
:) good luck

Some people are just like that, maybe you should eat more often. When I was first married I was just a size 10 but I got pregnant, at loads of little meals all day long and now I am a size 16 - I found the eating all day long didn't stop!LOL That said I am more comfortable with my size now than when my hips jutted out

Maybe you need to eat more often. Three meals a day is not carved in stone.

Are you sure it isn't your psyche? Do you have problems wiith your body image? If so you need to look there first b/c it isn't your actual appetite.
