II Corintians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
So why the hell is he worried about "appeasing" Islam?

He's a bit of a Nazi eh wot?!

He is not worthy to follow John Paul. His choice of passage to read publicly re Islam is only a tiny piece of proof. This man has not an ounce of godly love in his being.

Oh, this is so NOT the time for bible quarterbacking. Go back, get an education, and read the entire letter from Paul within its literary and historical context. It has NO baring on what we are talking about today.

And the reason Benedict is concerned over peace with the Muslims is that the Catholic Church does not condemn any religion and his words were mistakenly taken out of context in such a way that made that look untrue. Jesus would want peace with those he encountered - should we today desire any less?

First of all, it is obvious that each religion believes it is correct and the other must be wrong or blasphemous in some respect. But I will take the question at face value, rather than question its basis.

I don't wish to make generalizations about a particular religion or culture, but there are Muslim extremists who are willing to do anything to protect the honor and perception of their religion. Besides, no one likes being called evil. He 'appeased' them to avoid violent backlash.

In this passage, the Bible is shown to be a bit outdated. Not because it no longer holds true, but these days it's much harder for a public figure to denounce what is 'righteousness' or 'darkness'. If Jesus had to worry about sniper rifles and smart bombs, I'm sure he wouldn't have spoken as loudly. Or he would've simply died much sooner.

as a Muslim i can say with no reservation that you are correct.i think he should be more concerned about saying sorry to the little boys and girls and their families that his students of Christianity have done wicked and evil things to them.i agree with you.stop wasting time on the Muslims.it is more advantageous to appease the innocence that his clergy stole from these small, weak, helpless children who's parents trusted that they were in good safe hands.you are right.the Muslims are not worth his time and effort.but surely you would agree that those children and their families need appeasing, after his students of Christianity ruined them for maybe all time?

i respect the man, at leas he is respectable enough to apologize. and who you calling unbelievers? when we worship one God, and Christians worship three heads of God?

the Pope did the right thing, and he is not a coward neither shame. he is a wise man for doing this for that Christians and Muslims are the most largest religions in the world.

It's about peace. Not appeasing.

Jesus said love one another as he loved us. He died for those who murdered him.

The pope loves his children. The last thing he wants is a Holy War to be launched.

If a jihad is launched against the Holy See, Rome won't be the only one to suffer. Churches around the world will suffer. Immediately after his comment went public a nun was shot in Somalia. A nun who worked diligently for the poor.

Do you want to look forward to suicide bombers in your own church? Suitcase bombs in Cathedrals?

Don't think for one moment they'll only target Catholics. We lump all Muslims together as one, so why shouldn't they lump all Christians together as one.

Pray for peace.

Because, without meaning to, he insulted them. That is not love, and that is not a good reflection of Jesus.

Therefore he needs to make amends. This doesn't mean he needs to "yoke" himself to them at all.

Sorry, but I think your scripture choice is a bad one.
