I am trying to gain weight and drinking Ensure with alot of vitamins. Is it safe to drink more than one a day - is it bad to have too many vitamins?

Some vitamins if taken to excess can have a toxic effect on the body.

It is a bad idea to have too many of the same supplements. Make sure the ones you take aren't overlapping. You can google to find out the daily allowances of vitamins because an excessive amounts of trace vitamins and minerals could cause serious health problems. As for ensure twice a day is acceptable. You should probably increase your caloric intake with WHOLE foods not junk and low impact exercise will help to build muscle mass, adding to your body weight.

it's dangerous to have too many vitamins, but the last time i had an ensure i don't remember them having 100% of anything.. so yes, you can have more than one a day.. but you also have to track what you are getting threw meals... i too used to try and gain weight with those things and never had a problem.. but if my body wasn't wanting one that day i wouldn't drink one.. just listen to your stomach.. it'll let you know when you are getting too much of something.. kind of like how sometimes you can crave a banana and it usually means you are low on potassium... but don't just rely on that.. track your intake for a week or two and see how many nutrients you are getting from other sources... also you can just use protein drinks if you are working out.

In the army, when women enlist and they need them to gain weight, they make the girls (and men, too from what I've heard) drink a Slim-Fast AND eat a healthy meal. The Slim-Fast is supposed to be a meal-replacement, so it is chocked full of vitamins and calories. That would be pretty healthy.

You need to look at the daily recommended allowances for each vitamin listed on the can. Each can has 250 calories, but I think it would be more enjoyable and better for you to each some whole foods, such as whole wheat pasta with vegetables or meat, whole grain breads and brown rice. This would also help you gain weight and give you necessary fiber you need.

Drink it with your meals and you'll be fat in no time. It doesn't have enough vitamins to be toxic.
