I see so many kids that absolutely no respect for their parents. Why are parents letting this happen?

Too many parents try to be their kids 'best Friend', and not a parent. Lots of parents are busy with their own lives and see Kidd's as just baggage. And the parents don't really care about respect....they have a golf game to get too.

It's not the parents fault it is society ... just like how the schools no longer have any control over the kids ... and because the kids know this they take advantage of it .. they don't have any respect for each other either

It really depends on the parents, on whether or not they have control over their children... I am a little rough on my child when she tries to defy, disobey or go against my say in any way.
The reason some parents are letting things get out of hand is because the state has taken away a parents right to disipline their child in any way that really works. If you spank your child, they say it is child abuse, but I DARE them to try to say I have every abused my child ... I think it is more abusive to let them turn into evil children who will later become a menace to society... I can promise you this. It WONT be my child out there hurting people!

What's the famous line..."you need a licence to drive, but not one to have a kid." something like that anyway. There's all sorts of excuses...I mean reasons "parents" let this happen. I believe that if you don't feel like you could have done a better job then you are doing something wrong. It's sad seeing some of these kids.. I know your pain.

this world has changed so much since way back then that when every body started messing up they would try and correct us but pier pressure as brought every thing so much further and now they don't even try they are sick of trying but there is still a few parents out there that don't let it happen..... but all childern should respect there parents because there not tell us to keep us from having fun there talling us what to do because they don't want to see us hurt

Half and half. Some do and some dont. I cant understand how many people just let their kids run all over them. I see it as they just dont care. Oh I could go on and on about a couple of my friends........but that would take forever!
Im glad I can take my kids out in public and not worry!

I can only talk about my situation.
Raised 3 boys. They always knew who was in charge. I only spanked one (the oldest) and that was enough. Word of mouth spread and they knew better, we never spoiled them. I was involves in their sports, always had dinner together, prayed at night together before going to sleep, gave a blessing before going to work everyday. Like someone said, sometimes they want to be a friend and forget to be the parent, my wife sometimes wants to do that and that causes conflicts between us.
You do your best and then let them go, hopefully you did a good job. My kids are in college, church going kids even on their own. I guess we did a good job.

Kids have control today b/c of what they learn in school. You can't lay a hand on them or they will run and tell. Man if I did that to my mom she would beat me even harder for telling. Today parents can't win. But if there is a problem at school with them then they blame it on the parents. It's such a vicious cycle. Go figure!!

i have control over my kids because from a very young age i always communicated with them and let them know i was in charge - i want to be their mother, not their friend - although i do have a good relationship with my children, they know their limitations - i hate to see spoiled and disrespectful kids - most parents can't be bothered putting in the effort to raise their children - their kids are just a distraction.

that's a great question and i think in this society parents arent taking care of there kids like the older time when the mother stayed at home and cooked and took care of the kids.now adays its work and work...
