On Wikipedia it's the first of the deadly sins:

"Lust is best described as depraved thought, unwholesome morality, desire for excitement, or need to be accepted or recognized by others. It also includes obsessive, unlawful, or unnatural sexual desire, such as desiring sex with a person outside marriage or engaging in unnatural sexual appetites (like bestiality). Rape, adultery and sodomy are considered to be extreme forms of lust. Dante's criterion was "excessive love of others," thereby detracting from the love due to God. However, lust and love are two different things; while love involves mutual appreciation, trust, and deep friendship, lust is little more than extreme sexual arousal. In Purgatorio, the penitant walk within flames to purge himself of lustful thoughts."

Yes it is a sin. Your thoughts should always be as pure as possible. the bilble says that you should not 'covet' your neighbours wife, that means not to lust after her, because it is a sin. the reason it is a sin is beause it can lead to problems in your life and those affected by your misbehaviour, should you give in to the temptaion, like adultery, fornication, unintended/ unwanted pregnancies, rape (in very obsessive cases), stalking, and other ugly sex crimes and other socially undesirable occurences. I don't think that the passage only refers to a 'wife' but should apply to women in general if you were to use common sense. For example a man should not lust after his own daughters or female relatives, or young girl children... etc..

Ask Jesus to give you the strength to keep your thoughts and feelings pure.

If you like the girl and she is available, ask her out, get to know her, maybe that helps a bit. Either you like her enough to have a strong comitted relationship with her and eventually marry her or you get over your liking her at all. Hope this helps you. God Bless

I'm assuming you're Christian, since you used the word "sin". I also assume you're asking a serious question.

Matt 5:28: "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Now, let's put everything into perspective. God wants us to love him and to love our neighbor as ourself. Lust is a selfish behavior, rather than a loving one. It also isn't beneficial in the long run. Lust is always about wanting something you can't have and, therefore, you'll always be looking for something else and unhappy in that regard. So, while it is easy to do, allowing yourself to always be lustful will only harm yourself (in addition to being sinful). Try obsessing over something beneficial! ;-) You'll be happier for it.

Lust is a human male response to stimuli and it was created by God for the purpose of generating babies.

Getting lost in it is like any vice or addiction.

What you're suppose to do is couple and marry the girl you lusted for and then you get to lust for her in private as a husband.

It depends on who you are lusting for and what you do after that. If you are lusting after your girlfriend / wife then obviously not. If it is someone else, then it only becomes a sin if you act on your lust, that is, if you have sex with that someone else.

GOD WILL NOT punish you for things over which you have no or very little control. Stop listening to all the do-gooders who tell you otherwise. We have not all been created equal. Some of us do not have the sex drive of others and can easily suppress their desires. It is very easy for them to be judgmental. I wonder how they would react if they were in the same shoes. So, use your judgment, but in doing so, remember that GOD is LOVE and GOD is not cruel.

1 Corinthians 10:5-7 (King James Version)

5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

7Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Lust is natural. If mankind didn't lust, there would be no humans on the face of the planet. We feel lust so that we are urged to procreate. Those humans long ago who DIDNT feel lust, didn't have offspring and their bloodlines died off.
