I used to be a very fit and athletic stud. But over the last year or so I gained about 70 pounds. Part of the reason is I couldn't exercise due to a 4 month long hamstring injury and other part laziness and no motivation to push myself and eat healthy. I love working out with weights and running but I also eat everything in sight. How do I get the motivation I once had?

Music...and music videos...whatever you find particularly energizing and sexy.

As for myself, I get really in the mood to get in shape when I start watching the music videos of Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias. For you, I'd recommend you watch Paullina Rubio's videos. She is really in shape and her videos are very sexy. You can find all kinds of free music videos on Yahoo's Launchcast and on VideoCodes4U.com. If you have an ipod, you could probably even download some music videos to listen to at the gym.

Half the battle is getting to the gym. Once you are there, just start taking baby steps...just get on a machine and get your body in motion. Do some cardio at an easy pace...you need to do at least 45 minutes before you start burning fat reserves. Stair climbers burn the most fat...800 calories per hour...so if you can do that for two hours, you will have burned nearly 1600 calories (3600 calories = 1 pound).

Eat your biggest meal at breakfast, medium-sized meal at lunch, light dinner, and exercise at night at least an hour or two before you want to go to sleep.

Good Luck!! I know you can do it!

make exercising FUN...find a friend to do it with you. Try playing games like basketball, football etc....once you get into playing, your energy level will slowly rise and then you should be able to get back into running and lifting. Also when it comes to eating, I find that eating small portions of healthy food every 3 hours works better than skipping meals and substituting. Just don't eat anything after 8pm!!

I once heard that when you crave sweets and junk food it's your body starving for fat. When your body wants to store fat it sends signals telling you to eat crappy food. So if you remember that every time, you can control your own body!

Look in the mirror. If you don't like what you see; go to the gym and workout. Quit eating so much. Have some self-control.
