Jesus was God. Therefore, he knew things from the past, present, and future--since the mind of God exists outside of time and perceives it all. Jesus' foreknowledge did not prevent Judas' choice. Jesus just had already seen what Judas would do.
Judas played no role in humanity's salvation. The only one who played a role was the Savior, by coming to earth. Since Jesus is the only one who can save, no one else contributes to or detracts from his ability. That is, the possibility for the salvation of human souls is not dependent upon circumstances in Jesus' life. The possibility of salvation of human souls is dependent upon the fact that the Savior came and offered salvation.
The only role a human can play in salvation is whether or not he or she accepts Jesus' gift of it.

Judas had the same free will as anyone else. Just as Mary had the option of saying no to being chosen as Jesus' mother, Judas had the option to say no to the betrayal of Jesus. God knew their hearts and knew the outcome of both situations without eliminating their free choice.

Did he have a choice? this is a diffficult one to answer. The beleivers will say that of course he had choice - free will. But I would say to you that free will cannot exist as described in the Bible, simply because God is omnisicent and our lives are "written in his Book." All we have is the ILLUSION of Free Will....that is what the church provides - an illusion that you freely have the choice to chose. But if any of the rest of the story is to be swallowed, then free will cannot exist.... If God knew Judas' choices prior to Judas even being born, this means that God created those choices for Judas. God then, had to created evil - why would an all loving God create evil???? I know some say that Satan created evil, but he could not have.... In order for there to be a choice, both choices MUST EXIST> therefore, for Satan to CHOOSE EVIL means that EVIL WAS A CHOICE, thus, God created it and gave it as a choice for all....which makes no sense....
I beleive that Judas was asked by Jesus to be the one to betray him. Jesus set up the entire Messiah-hood, madeling his life adter the prophencies written in the Bible. Why else would he have stopped on the way into Jerusalem to send a follower into the city to obtain a donkey, as described, in the Bible? Because the OT said that he would enter Jerusalem on a donkey, and that people would wave palm tree branches.....so he had to set those people up, he had to obtain a donkey, and he had to inform the people he was entering so they would KNOW to have the palm tree branches.....
Nothing more than an elaborate magica trick. Still fooling fools 2000 years later...

Of course Judas had free will...
But he was a thief, selfish and self-centered...and he made a decision. God / Jesus would have forgiven him (Judas) had he asked for it...but he didn't.
Judas' part was done when he sold out Jesus and didn't repent.
Jesus came to die for our sins. Period. That was His entire reason for coming. To save my sorry but from all the things I had done.

Some say Judas was the real hero and not Jesus. Judas was the favorite student of Jesus and loved him to no end. Imagine that you have to betray the one you love so much, knowing what would happen? However, the church opposes this version very much. Dark story...

Judas did have free will,,but his actions and or choices were known before the foundation of the world.
God knew of his choices long before he was born.

No one takes away our free will. Judas acted upon political ideals. It was not a spiritual issue at all. Betrayal was something Jesus knew existed in his followers...after all, he drew them from various societal places.

One theory is that Jesus and Judas planned the "betrayal" without the others knowing.

Judus did have free will-and he did have the opportunity for repentance. The rest of the disciples also turned their back on Jesus (with the exception of John). The difference is they repented and came back to Him. Judus is what you could call a 'name only' believer. He had heard alot about Jesus--but never let it penetrate his heart.

He had a choice. He chose the money and he will pay for it in hell for all eternity. God does see in the future and he already knew what his choice would be.You have a choice to. You can accept or reject Christ. God already knows but no one else does.
