well I will approch this with 2 guesses (being female)...1) back in the 1800s it pretty much was a law...women never approched men thus if a man wanted to court a woman he asked for permission. 2) Women want to find a guy interested in them...if the guy approches it shows he likes her with out a doubt...if we approch you then we being to wonder "is he really into me"?
