Truthful in what area? I usually try to tell the truth although I admit I have lied from time to time. Mostly I've lied to people in general when....

a) I knew their feelings would be hurt if I were truthful
b) They ask me something that would take an hour to explain but a simply white lie can get it overwith in 2 seconds with no harm
c) I know the reaction will be pretty bad
d) They have really annoyed me and I just give a sarcastic anser because I don't really care what they think at that point.

The trouble with a lot of guys is that they are conditioned in some cases that lying is okay, from doing it to their parents or friends, often guys just think that it would be better of a girl not know the truth, such as a woman's weight, appearance or other things, so they would rather lie and have everything by "ok", than create friction within the relationship.

Because most of the time, us ladies don't want to hear the truth and we get really emotional and bent out of shape. If we were more rational, guys would feel more comfortable telling the truth. Although, that also depends on if he's a liar about the size of your butt in those jeans or if he's a liar about the girl he picked up at the bar last night.

I dont think that is true. Many men lie, but many men dont.

Sometimes people lie to spare peoples feelings, in any case its not right.

You just need to find a man who is mature enough to know the value of truth, and honesty. Dont give up! They are out there. I have been with both kinds, and boy its so much better to be in a relationship with a truthful person.

Good luck with that...and report back when you discover a 'tribe of men' that knows how to tell the truth. The scary thing is that most of us date guys we'll never know well enough to determine their truthfulness one way or the other. Honesty is truly a rare quality, and the next time I'm in doubt I'll err on the side of caution. Trust your instincts.

First of all, I am a guy. I have been happily married for over 27 years. A cornerstone of our marriage is mutual honesty. I am very sorry for whatever problems you are having with guys, but please don't lump us all in together.
I find generalizations like that every bit as insulting as you should when someone classifies all women as having a negative trait. People are individuals. If the guys you are encountering are liars then you are just meeting the wrong guys.

The reason guys have problems being honest is because of the female reaction we are guaranteed to get. We'd like nothing better than to share our thoughts, our dreams, our fantasies, but too many women downgrade the ideas, find them disgusting, and get turned off. We avoid that by hedging the truth.

Why do most ppl lie!!! I raised my children to tell the truth. the truth always remains the same!!! Don't have to worry what ya' said, if speaking the truth!!!
Exception, lil' white lies, we all tell...Like do ya think this dress is pretty???...Of course ya' don't wanna hurt someones feeling...So we all occasionally tell lil' white lies...Reality!!!

I'm looking for a man like that myself!!!

My ex often asked this same question. My reply was, "Do you really want the truth or do you want me to say something you want to hear?" I'm not accusing the asker of being like my ex, but many women I have come across do not want to hear unpleasant truths. (Also a lot of men, unfortunately.)

I have found telling the truth is far easier than lying... You don't have to remember anything you say if you always tell the truth...
