God chose to be in relationship to mankind through Jesus Christ but mankind rejected God's offer and set up their own religions.
Those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our LORD and Savior are to be living our lives so that other people will say "I want to know more about your God." Because our awesome Creator does not want anyone to be lost.

I believe God chose the Jews as the way to bring Salvation to the gentiles. While the first people to call themselves "Christians" were Jewish, they remained Jewish. So I'm not sure it's that "Christianity" is the right religion, per se; I think Judaism is the "right" religion and we're grafted onto a well-established "tree." We just can't (and shouldn't) call ourselves Jews.
Having said that, I don't view the salvation of gentiles as proof that it's all about us; please remember, we're in a different dispensation -- "The Times of the Gentiles" -- that only makes it appear that way. Soon, those who accept Jesus as Messiah will be Raptured and God will turn His attention toward the Jews again, not that He ever forgot about them ...
So, WHY gentiles?
Why NOT gentiles?
God loves His creation and earnestly desires all of us to be saved. That's the best reason I can give you.
Peace.

I don't really think that god has chosen Christianity as the right religion. Religion in itself, to me, is not a good thing. The word Christian is suppose to mean Christ like. Christianity is to be Christ like. There are many that call themselves Christians who don't even try to be Christ like and do not really know much about God the father, God the Son Jesus Christ or God the Holy spirit. They don't know God's word or even think about following it. Not that it is a direct refusal to follow it, it just never occurred to them that God's Word is important in daily life.
I think that there are many people from different denominations of Christianity and other faiths that truly love Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. They may have been mislead in some areas, but their hearts cry out for Jesus. Those people, I believe, who know and want to know Jesus, are those who will be saved. I think their will be much surprise on judgment day for many who thought little about God and Jesus Christ, but believed in them. Satan and the Demons BELIEVE in God and Jesus, they do not follow or worship him though. There is a big difference. you must know Christ and have his gift of mercy and grace and salvation.

There are certain circustances in life that create an epiphany. Try dwelling on this - A barrel of swage and a drop of wine makes sewage and a barrel of wine with a drop of sewage makes sewage. People like to look at each other and then asses whether or not there lives are okay. Everyone has sewage, the ones with lots of wine and little sewage, we call "good people." The ones that the barrel of sewage with a drop of wine we call reprobates, criminals, and so on.
Romans 2:1 says, "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things." From the perspective of perfection and holiness, we all have sewage. How can that which is impure make itself pure? - attain holiness? It isn't possible. How can God reconcile himself to that which is evil and reprobate? Without atonement, there can be no reconcilation. How can that which is evil, make itself good? Only God can do that. Christianity is unique in that man does not atone for himslef, nor does he work his way to holiness. His good standing with God is by God, through Christ's atonement, and holiness is bestowed by Gods favor.

God did not choose Christianity to be the right religion.
God created Christianity when Jesus Christ, God the Son, became a human being, lived on Earth with us, was tried, crucified, died and rose from the dead, all according to the prophecies of the Jewish Scriptures (Old Testament).
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:17-18)
Then God sent the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and disciples:
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. (Acts 2:1-4)
With love in Christ.

Its not like God went to the Mall of the world and went religion shopping. He didn't choose any religion to be the right one. Truth isn't something chosen by God, it simply is Truth. Now why God chose to make the drama of the world the way it is, you'd have to ask Him.

You know, Jesus' disciples were once arguing about which one among them was the greatest and Jesus put them in their place. He told them that the person who wants to be first will be the least in the Kingdom of God. He is not looking for those that are prideful, He is looking for hearts full of humility who are so fully aware of their inadequacies that they are totally dependent on His MERCY and LOVE.
"Christian" means--DISCIPLE OF CHRIST. It does not mean "one way ticket to Heaven no matter how I behave". Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself".
ATTN all God's children: the Father is tired of listening to His children bicker. Everyone take a time out!

I don't think God chose Christianity to be the right religion. The people in the congregation choses their religion to be the right religion. Other religions think their religion is the right one.
