Well, I resent that generalization! I happen to have a nice cap of short (natural) curls--no frizz included. Why do all young women think they look good in long straight hair?

I don't know if the perm is frizzy to start with, I think the elderly women don't take the time to fix their hair once it is permed. If a younger woman does not put some type of product in her hair, it also looks bad.

Some women do have thinning hair and you must remember, as we get older, there is also various degrees in loss of mobility. Women still want to look nice as they age and also want to have a style that is easy to manage themselves. They don't want to spend a lot of time getting ready so a perm is a good solution for most.

I believe women have a tendency to get their hair cut too short when they get older. A super short haircut, thinning hair AND a perm is a hair disaster! It will almost always make you look older!

Ladies, there are many styles out there to give you a modern look that is still easy to manage. If you get a perm, check the size of the rods used so it isn't too tight. No matter how old you are, you are still beautiful!! ;-)

b/c they want to find a style that will stay looking that way all week b/c they usually only get their hair washed and styled once a week at the beauty shop and a tight perm lasts longer and it makes their hair kind of dry so it does not show the oil that much.

They love low maintenance hair styles and the reason its always frizzy is because they get them every 3 or 4 months its very damaging to the hair so that's why they are fizzy

I suppose I'm elderly by most of the standards here and I do see my friends going in for that poodle pelt look, and I think it looks dopey. I do know they don't like to fuss with their hair and, in some cases its thinner than it used to be (yes women get thinner hair with age too) and they think it makes it look thicker. But I still have thick hair and so I'll wear it longer, a little longer.

It's often because their hair is thinning out so they get a perm to make it appear fuller.

Cause a lot of elderly people are blind so why would a hair stylist spend time making every strand perfect? They are happy either way!

It's a low maintenance look that doesn't require a lot of time and energy to spend on.
