If it says that a camera has a 12X tele zoom does that mean that the actual pictures it takes can be 12X? What is digital zoom and how does it differ from tele zoom? Can a Kodak P712 have different lenses attached to it like an 18 mm lens or a polarizing lens? What is your opnion of a Kodak P712 or other Kodak products? Would another digital camera under $500 be better for Aviation Photography?

The 12x zoom on the P712 goes from 36-432mm (432/36=12). That's all optical zoom, where the lens does the work. Digital zoom is a gimmick, where in-camera software blows up the central part of the picture. Ignore digital zoom when comparing specs, and ignore it when you use the camera.
Here's the official Kodak accessories for the P712 - they include a circular polarizer and add-on lenses:

My only experience with Kodak digital cameras was with a different model. I liked it a lot though - the lens was great, it was easy to operate, and it was a pleasure to use. My only criticism was that the default settings over-saturated and over-sharpened the images to a ludicrous extent (to make the pictures 'pop'). That's easily remedied in the menu settings however, if you prefer a more realistic reproduction.
Here's an in-depth review for the P712:

yes its going to be 12 times larges from the no zoom image...
but don't compare 12x of two different cameras...as 12x is only relative to a particular camera model.
