I understand why most don't like them, Porn ruins some families. BUT, what about a married couple who go to those shops to keep their sex life interesting. In that context it keeps those families together. WHat are your thoughts about it? Please, if you don't want to answer go to another question and don't report me, this is a serious question. Thanks.

I go to them to get toys so that my husband and I will always have a great sex life. In my town and surrounding area, they are all being shut down. I was just wondering about it. It is local churches closing them, that is why I am asking.

And all of the ones that are still opened are always 20 or more miles out side of ALL towns. And they are still trying to close those.

Are you sure that MOST people dislike them? I personally think that most people are scared of them.
Sex is fun, and toys are blast.... An exciting sexual relationship with your partner creates more comfort and openness. I wouldn't say that pornography ruins families... Secrets and a emotional distance do.
Maybe these people who are scared of their sexuality are the ones who don't see how complex it is... They need a good f--k with someone they love and trust to get that idea out of their heads... and they should use battery operated toys while doing it!

To some extent I can understand the need to close some of the shops down. Churches don't want them next door due to the wonton factor. Schools should have a free zone where everything is based on moral issues. As for placing them in areas that are mostly industrial as they are doing here in NY, sure as long as I don't have to drive 50 miles to save a family from not going in that probably wouldn't anyway. Better to cover the windows, restrict access by age, and not allow any signs stating what is behind door number one. Church has tried to ban magazines, statues, and just about everything else. We should boycott them LOL

I'm a fan of porn shops too. These days there's a better selection on the internet, but ya know it's still kinda fun to go in and browse....and watch the stunned/embarrassed looks of the men in there when a woman walks in =)

My wife and I sometimes go to Porn shops and get a few toys for her, and a few videos for me. I do not see the harm being done. I do agree with the person who stated they should not show explicit advertising that the young can see.
Sex is a normal part of life, I do not see why it is considered so taboo by people.

Intimacy is a very important part of marriage. Without it, a marriage can quickly suffer and wither. There are many ways of rekindling that "old flame", but porn is certainly no magic pill.
People can easily become desensitized to porn, and need larger or stranger forms of it to produce the same "desire" for passion...somewhat like a narcotic drug. It can make one or both of the viewers feel inadequate about themselves in one of many ways. It seems more like a temporary fix rather than a reliable tool.
I think counseling, educational books, and natural creativity are much safer, reliable, and ethical methods to help a couple with their intimate love life.

Can anyone cite even one single example where porn was the sole factor that 'ruined a family'? Many married couples look at porn together.

Its an example of how people who have sacrificed reason, by accepting faith, can demonize things to the point they must kill them in order to feel justified and moral. It's all about them, and their overwhelming needs to feel valuable, when they don't on their own. Self-esteem is highly unlikely under a faith based moral system.

If you are a consenting adult, there is nothing wrong with them. My husband and I go too to keep things interesting. People who have a problem with them need to get laid.

I think you should do what you want. I don't think the shop should be marked in a big neon sign "F**K SHOP" with naked people on it so our children have to see it, but everyone appreciates a little something different in the bedroom.
