I don't know who or how you would ever diagnose animals with schizophrenia or any mental illness.
However, a dog can suffer from various neurotic behaviors such as ------separation anxiety, a fear of thunderstorms and the fear of loud noises such as gun shots.
Dog can chase their tails excessively exhibiting a very neurotic behavior. Some dogs lick various spots incessantly on their limbs causing open sores called lick granulomas.
Caged large cats such as lions and tigers can pace in their cages from boredom exhibiting neurotic behavior.
Parrots can pluck out their feathers and actually pick holes in their skin due to neurotic behavior caused from physical or psychological stress.
More than an actual mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar, animals can exhibit bizarre behavior such as rocking, picking, pacing and head bobbing due to humans keeping them in extreme confinement, in barren enclosures with the lack of opportunity to make any choices of their own in their daily lives can lead to boredom and neurotic behavior.

yes they can. cats can suffer from most of the same mental afflictions as humans (quite often their owners).. it is believed in the scientific community that cats react to small vibrations that we cannot sense. some breeds are more sensitive, other cats are just plain out there. my cat hides behind the curtain and talks to birds and thinks he's invisible if he's hiding in a shoe box, so i guess, i don't know

I don't know if they can be schizo or not but I do know they can have nervous conditions. There is medication for them. You should have your pet evaluated by a vet that specializes in nervous conditions. It's really sad to see a pet with a nervous disorder.
