Yes, it happens quite frequently.
It is common that an offender is caught after he has reached the age of majority. They will often be tried as a juvenile rather than an adult. The only problem arises in sentencing because many juvenile correctional facilities cannot hold people beyond their 18th birthday so they would be sentenced to a county jail if detention is warranted.

They will in fact charge you as a juvenile. Michael Skakel, nephew of the Kennedy's comes to mind. He was charged with murdering a girl when he was a teen. When they actually charged him, he was around 40. And his sentence was one that would compare to a juveniles.
And juvenile detention facilities can hold people up to age 21.

of course. the age you were when the crime was committed is the age in question. and each state may have different laws regarding that decision/age. And the type of crime can be a determing factor also. In most states, murder can be prosecuted as an adult by juveniles.

Usually, they will be charged as a juvenile. Sometimes, juveniles are charged as adults for serious cases or for repeat offenders; in that case, it's not unreasonable for an adult charged with a crime committed as a juvenile to be charged as an adult.

Nope.. You're charged as an adult.. Especially since chances are, when you commited the crime.. you were at the age where they think you know right from wrong and would have charged you as an adult anyways...

i was married to a police officer and no they can't after your age is 21.
and by the time the courts reach your files, your already past the age.
if they do your going to spend some time and money to get this stopped before it starts.
this is from my past understanding.
but each state is different.
