For example, the Holy Land Experience?

This article made me think of it.

I'm interested in everyone's opinions.

Oh, and has anyone gone to one? I took my best friend, who at the time was Rastafarian, when I got a free pass to Holy Land. Neither of us were convinced; both of us thought they needed rides and liked the Milk and Honey ice cream.

Disclaimer: I'm not religious. I'm a reformed Christian, who has a great deal of love and respect for my fellow brothers and sisters in all religions.

OK. Got that out of the way.

I think, have always thought, even when I was a minister, that these commercializations are sick. WAY over the top. Christmas is bad enough with people trying to get your money by selling you crap that is broken and in a landfill by spring, but Bible theme parks are without taste.

If Jesus were alive and went to one of these theme parks, he'd be turning over the tables again and chasing the "money changers" out with a stick, just like he did in the temple.

Just my opinion. I'm sure there are some nice people involved that have the best of intentions. But I guarantee you that there are a bunch who are simply greed-driven.

I think that the church has a responsibility to the world to get its message out. As to how they do it, it's up to them as long as it doesn't go against what the bible teaches. As far as I know, there is nothing in the bible that forbids capitalism in the church. I may not understand what yall are trying to say but I trying. If you believe there shouldn't be any capitalism in the church, then what about christian bookstores and other christian based stores? And if it is against the bible to have capitalism in the church, then how come so many pastors and respected christians go to christian based stores and spend their money?

I haven't been to a theme park, but have been to "The Witness", a play based on the last days of Christ's life and His sacrifice for our sins and victory over death.

I think the theme parks, if done scripturally, are a good idea.

I think it's pathetic & didn't know they existed until now. Nothing like turning the teachings of a prophet into a cheap thrill show.
