Yes, I used the 10 commandments and for the rude person, I went to Christian school and everyone needs alittle help from time to time....I'm not a know it all and I use the Bible b/c it is the instruction book for life! Everthing in the Bible is true and was written years ago and has a design for us to follow or we will surely die. You ever put something together without the directions and it fell apart...just an ex.

She is not being punished by reading into the Bible, for the person that said I was useing it for that...this is so she will know and she wants to know and is eager to know. She just keeps lying to me about innocent things, like did you do your homewk ex. and I love her and want her to know everywhere it says its wrong b/c she seems to think its not that wrong.

Col. 3:8-10 "But now you must also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of you mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds (you before Christ), and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him sho created him (the "New" you)..."
Rev. 21:24-27 "And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life."
There are some others though these seem to be the most direct...hope they help.

It tells us in multiple places.. Acts chapter 5 is an example of what can happen when we lie. It may not be a physical death immediately, but it will lead to a spiritual death.
Col 3: 8. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9. LIE NOT ONE TO ANOTHER, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Rev 21: 27. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or MAKETH A LIE: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Rev. 22:13. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15. For WITHOUT are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and WHOSEVER LOVETH AND MAKETH A LIE.

It's not about lying but about bearing false witness, the idea that falsification presents a clear and present danger to another person.
Peter telling everyone he didn't know Jesus and wasn't with him, while be false and untrue and even a lie, is not a clear violation of the 10 Commandments for his action did not put anyone else in jeapardy. In fact, the truth would have put him at the mercy of the mob.
If your daughter knows her underage friend of hers has runaway and is defiantely almost out of the state and on the run and she lies about this when questioned, it is a violation of the 10 Commandments because her actions may or could put the girl in harms way.
If your daughter know her friend is sneaking off to do some kissing with a boy at a safe location and she lies and tells everyone she went to the library or the mall, then it is not a violation of the 10 Commandements because there is no clear and present danger preceived.
Bearing False witness must have dire consequenes for another individual.

Explain to your daughter that Satan the Devil told the very first lie and because of that lie, all people get sick, grow old and eventually die. Read this Scripture to her found at John 8:44--"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."
Tell her that when someone lies, they are imitating God's enemy so we need to be truthful at all times, for then we are imitating God who cannot lie as Titus 1:2 states--"in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began."
I hope this is helpful.

Respecting parents - Leviticus 19:3

Leviticus 19:11 [NIV]
"Do not steal".
"Do not lie".

Very good. You will not commit adultery. Is a commandent. Adultery is strictly defined as being untrue. It is not confined to the definition we use. Several passages in the Old Testament refer you to it, in that you are adulterating yourself before God and your countrymen.
Bearing false witnesses does not address lies. It is to keep you from committing perjury or wrongfully swearing before God, or in his name.

Don't lean on the bible. Tell them not to lie because it's wrong.
The bible is so full of contradictions that any kid with half a brain will throw it back in your face and quote from another passage that supports their case.
Tell them how much you loved them. Talk to them about how much they meant to you and still mean to you. Open up to them and don't try to hide behind the bible.
