Any ideas - don't want to buy off the list nothing too exciting on there (plus not a very big list so not a lot left)... They been together a while not like they are setting up a new home but don't know them too well - something funny, funky or just different... budget under £100.00

ok - question asked on behalf of a mate I offered to help out with ideas hence the don't know em too well part to question. looked at weding list and basically a load of vases - thought could get one engraved to male it a bit more special. I would normally agree that the list is there so should get something off it but in this case I really think the novelty option would be appreciated...

Why not get them a gift day! One of those cards where you can buy them say a day together at a day spa or a day at the races etc. I know if you search the net you should be able to find these cards but I know Boots do some think they are called Red Letter Days! At least with this they can book a day out together so that after the whole wedding and honeymoon they can go and chill out together and have fun when maybe the moneys a bit low in the old pot!

Here's something that my sister-in-law did for me and my husband. When the happy couple get their photographs taken after the service quickly snap some of them on a digital camera and then go and get one of them printed and put in a frame (you could do this yourself of course on your own pc). Then present it to them at the meal or evening party. It's so nice to have a picture of the day actually ON the day.
It will depend on if you are able to slip away for half an hour and if you're close enough to somewhere you can get it printed of course but cost wise you're only probably looking at about £20 -£30 including the frame so it's an original idea that doesn't cost too much and we loved the fact that someone took the time to do that for us.

Maybe try to look at the registry list and determine their likes and decorating styles based on the colors of thigns they selected-- see if you can go out and find things that coordinate but are not on the registry (kitchen in yellow, bedroom in blue-- whatever you can figure out). Certain things like kitchen towels need replaced often...
Or maybe buy a small piece of artwork that you think they will enjoy and that will suit their decor. There are artist co-op galleries where I live that sell beautiful little framed paintings and such for like $30.
Hope that helps.

PLEASE, I beg of you!!! PLEASE get them something off their list!
The whole reason there is a list is because they NEED these things! Other things aren't on the list, because they DON'T NEED THEM!!!
Also, if you don't know the couple well enough to know what they want (as evidenced by the fact that you've posted this question), then you shouldn't get them anything they haven't asked for! If you can't think of it, and they haven't asked for it, they probably don't want it!
Look at it this way...I had a friend who got married a few years ago...They registered, and very carefully specified in writing to please don't get them any towels! All kinds of other things were on the registry, at all kinds of price levels.
They got 9 (yes, I said NINE) sets of towels - and none of them matched each other! Imagine what a pain in the neck it was for them to try to figure out where all of those towels were purchased (obviously not from the place where they were registered), and take them all back!
There is a purpose to the registry...It may not be exciting, but it's what the bride & groom want and need!

Give them a lavish, very fine box of upscale chocolates (chosen from a homemade chocolate company in your area), gift-wrapped to perfection, along with a card containing cash or a gift card to cover the remainder of your allotted budget. It's a whimsical gift that everyone loves. The couple can indulge in the fine chocolates after their honeymoon or even take 'em with them on the road!

Don't know where they live but is there a really nice restaurant there? I mean something really nice where the meals and drinks would cost £100 for just the two of them?? If so, book them a table there for 1 month after the wedding, this would be their first month anniversary and would make it very special for them.

no ideas, I tell you one thing, the last 2 baby gifts I bought & the last 3 wedding gifts I bought, not one thank you card, my habit of buying for others has ceased , if you can send me an invitation for a shower you can send a thank you card, people now days do not appreciate any thing you do for them, I have never bought a cheap gift, but now I don't buy any at all. Wake up America, the proper thing to do when someone gives you a gift is to write out a thank you note. Thanks for letting me stand on my soap box. have a nice day.

www.thingsremembered.com has some really great gifts that can be personalized.
Maybe a gift basket or picnic basket filled with lots of things:
- champagne
- champagne flutes
- chocolate covered strawberries
- some massage oils & sensual creams - even some funny boxer shorts or something (bride/groom) (if you think they would feel comfortable receiving such an item)
- gift certificate for dinner somewhere romantic
- nice linen napkins
Just an idea...

While you may find the list boring, that very list is compiled by the couple in question and they probably want everything on said list. If you're really unsure, you could get them vouchers for a fave shop.
