Fornication is against every religion that I have asked.
The Abrahamic religions (Jewish, Christian, & Muslim) are against forenication. Hindu is against fornication. Buddist says that fornication leads to less "Chi"
Why is it done? Well, the evil one knows how enticing it is and it's a common lure. Modern culture has embrassed more live now philosophy. Another here said that in Africa it is rampant and that they were Muslim countries ... to some degree there is truth in this. However, we should not turn a blind eye to the world as a whole, as this problem is Universal and effects each and everyone of us.

If you are a Christian, and you are practicing your religion then fornication is not allowed. The reason that it maybe common is that not all people are not Christians or they have the choice in their life to choose how they want to act. Fornication is not limited to just the Christians, Other religions about fornication's also applies and the people choose to follow the guide lines or not. It happen all over the world not just in western world.
