Evolution is not a religion, it is a scientific theory.

A religion requires an acceptance of revealed knowledge.

A scientific theory is a potential explanation for a question raised by empirical evidence.

The theory of evolution fits all available evidence. Propagation of a genome throughout a population has been observed under laboratory conditions and in the wild. This is the mechanism by which evolution is postulated to work. The fossil record is consistent with the theory.

Also, unlike a religion, scientific theories are falsifiable. If empirical evidence contradicted the theory, it would be discarded and replaced with an explanation better fitting the evidence.

Since when did the science of evolution become religion? If it has sign me up. Religion has never proved any of its stories to me whereas science can back things up with facts. Plus if religion is so right why are there so many different ones. Unlike religion evolution has never breed racism, hatred toward others, wars, cults,or obnoxious people knocking on your door trying to recruit you or SAVE you. So I think I will just stick with evolution and live a peaceful existence.

Evolution is not a religion. It has nothing to do with religion. To suggest that evolution is a religion is like saying that global warming or pollution are religions.

Evolution has been scientifically proven, unlike God. People who believe in evolution have not been brainwashed; they simply have learned this fact (like the formula for finding the area of a triangle, or how to make a fake volcano out of baking soda and vinegar).

People who think evolution is not real worry me.

The silly notion that evolutionary biology is a "religion" stems from the contention of certain groups that since evolution is a "theory" it has to be taken on "faith". Of course this would make belief in atoms a "religion" too, since no-one has ever seen an atom, and therefore it is atomic theory that forms the foundation of science. It would also make science itself a religion, since theory is the very essence of science. What such uneducated people don't recognize is that an idea doesn't attain the status of "theory" until it is well supported by experimental evidence. Until then it is just an untested hypothesis. And much as such folks would like to deny reality, the fact is both atomic theory and evolutionary theory are supported by vast accumulations of irrefutable evidence.

If you don't care for the theory of evolution because your pastor tells you that you shouldn't, then please ... ask him to propose a viable alternative theory that explains what we KNOW to be true - that new species have replaced earlier species ever since live appeared on earth. If he has no better theory to propose that explains this undeniable reality, then he really has nothing to say on the subject. And note: Intelligent design is NOT an alternative theory to evolution. Evolution tells us WHAT happened, and HOW it happened. Intelligent design simply addresses the question of WHO was responsible for WHATEVER actually happened.

What the hell is wrong with you? Evolution isn't a religion. It's SCIENCE...it's not wishy washy and can be PROVEN. Ah, let's see some proof of God. You don't "BELIEVE" in evolution, you accept or reject it...and if you want to call scientists brainwashed, go right ahead. We pride ourselves on being individualistics and forming our own opinions...rather than conforming to foolish, outdated tenets of religion. Most, anyways.

And for God's sake: Charles Darwin NEVER recounted evolution....he was going to be a minister BEFORE he developed the theory of natural selection. Once he did that, he saw how big of a waste of time religion really was.

Try reading something actually legitimate. All the "Creationist" arugments are based off of what science doesn't currently know...they don't HAVE original ideas. Read Denying Evolution (by Massimo Pigliucci) for the evolutionary stance on the origin of the universe, the 2nd law of thermoDYNAMICS, and another things. You might actually be able to spout something that makes sense.

"Contrary to what some modern creationists claim, Darwin had no deathbed conversion to Christianity, he issued no last-minute retraction of his theory. But although his theory of natural selection posed perhaps the greatest challenge to a literal belief in scripture, he was buried in Westminster Abbey, in recognition of his remarkable achievements. Darwin refused to discuss his own beliefs about a supreme being in public, once writing to his friend Asa Gray, "I feel most deeply that the whole subject is too profound for human intellect. A dog might as well speculate on the mind of Newton." Yet he closed The Origin of Species on a more inspirational note:

There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved."

Evolution is not a religion, it is a word used to describe a process by which organisms change over time in response to changing environmental conditions. The results of this process are easily observable and in no way run counter to the idea that God created the universe.

Faith is important, but to ignore the wondrous complexities of this universe is a disservice to its creator.

There is no proof of evolution, there never was, and there never will be.

There is no sample of what existed at the first moment of existence, so all scientists can do in their experiments is GUESS, based on their faith, and that makes evolution a religion.

And since life can NOT evolve from non-life, then evolution can't explain where the very first life form came from.
