No they are not. Infact, in the Quran the Muslim women are given rights, and it is said that they should be treated with utmost respect. Some men dont follow that (not only Muslim men)...men from all cultures and religions.

some international places/cultures try this barbaric element the place they take a woman, around 8, and decrease her up on the interior, then stitch her up so the factors heal mutually. this type her husband the two is conscious she's a virgin, and has the exhilaration of ripping her open on their wedding ceremony night. After she provides start, she is principally situations decrease up like with a cheese grater or broken glass and sewn up back so the husband could have the exhilaration back. this could be a cultural element, often tribal in African international locations, and is no longer inevitably Muslim. Islam does prepare woman circumcision, which varies in degree, yet in certainty knicks or scars the clitoris so as that the girl won't be able to orgasm, making her much less in all probability to be untrue. additionally they have faith, ladies and men individuals alike, that an uncircumcised woman is unclean. however the degree of woman genital mutilation to which you refer isn't unique to Islam.

Women are equal to men but you have to note the differences. In fact Mothers are seen in a higher regard to fathers because they go through so much pain when they give birth. It is said that heaven lies at your mother's feet.
I think you may have got this impression through different cultures/regimes i.e Taliban, rather then find out what Islam really has to say regarding men and women.

All I know is this: The Quran says that women are SUPPOSED to be respected and taken care of....not mistreated. They are held in high regards. Muslims say that if you DO mistreat a woman, you are not a true Muslim. So I'm not really sure! That's what I've been told.

Not much to do with religion this age old question!
We have known throughout history that women are worth less than men!
The word 'Chattels' springs to mind! (I cant understand why)?
Women are here to give birth and provide 'entertainment' to men thats all really, apart from a bit of washing and dusting !
I thought every one understood that?? Regardless of religion!

The wearing of the veil by women is an illogical premise to claim that women are inferior to men. It is more appropriate to indict a society of female exploitation if it tolerates pornography, child sexual abuse, prostitution and the use of wome as sexual bait to lure in customers, rather than if it enforces the veil. Given that Allah is neither male nor female, given that He does not endear people to Himself based on their gender, given that the Creator cares about all of us male or female, given that the sexual and violent drive of men is stronger than that of women...given all this, it is illogical to cast a negative light on the following injunctions contained in the Qur'an (translation)
[33:59] O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their outer garments around them (when they go out or are among men). That is better in order that they may be known (to be Muslims) and not be annoyed...
[24:30-31] Say to the believing man that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; and that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands...
On this misconception, there is a great deal more to write, most of it showing how current practices in many Muslim lands go against what the Qur'an and Sunnah have ordained, lands in which women are treated as property (unIslamic), are not educated (unIslamic), are forbidden their economic rights (unIslamic), and more. On this point in particular, we encourage everyone to consult the Qur'an and Sunnah before incriminating Islam. Always remember that Islam is a complete way of life from the Creator, and that Muslims are people who claim to follow that way of life. A Muslim may claim to follow Islam, but be wrong.
