there's a lot of ways to say hello in korean.
안녕 = An nyoung = hello, informal
안녕하세요 = An nyoung ha se yo = hello, formal
여보세요 = you bo se yo = hello on a telephone

when speaking to anyone older than you, or anyone that has a higher status you should say the longer form, an nyoung ha se yo.

Pronouncing Hello/Hi in Korean? Ok I've been confused for a while now. I watch a lot of Korean shows and I'm confused to how you say Hi/Hello in Korean. I know its An-yŏng-ha-se-yo but I never hear it out of Korean introductions...I always hear An-yai -se-yo. Sounds like a short form. Can anyone clarify? Maybe they are saying it really fast.

The formal 'hello' is 'anyeonghaseyo' and on the phone it's 'yeoboseyo'. 'Anyaiseyo' doesn't exist, you probably understood it wrong.
