The answer is simple...it's the very best, tastiest, moistest, most incredible flavored chicken you'll ever taste. Although the person that thought of this idea was clearly a little twisted, they did discover a miracle in the art of cooking chicken. It's fun, flavorful, easy...and if done properly, very safe.
Beer Butt Chicken
Submitted by: Barrie Tapp
A whole chicken is seasoned and slowly cooked on the grill. This is a bit unorthodox, but the end result is moist, flavorful, and amazing. All you'll need is some chicken, butter, beer, and seasonings."
Prep Time:30 MinutesCook Time:3 Hours Ready In:4 Hours Servings:8
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter
2 tablespoons garlic salt
2 tablespoons paprika
salt and pepper to taste
1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer
1 (4 pound) whole chicken
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat an outdoor grill for low heat.
In a small skillet, melt 1/2 cup butter. Mix in 1 tablespoon garlic salt, 1 tablespoon paprika, salt, and pepper.
Discard 1/2 the beer, leaving the remainder in the can. Add remaining butter, garlic salt, paprika, and desired amount of salt and pepper to beer can. Place can on a disposable baking sheet. Try the following: Beer in the Butt Chicken This is the classic beer in the butt chicken recipe, developed by a couple of guys with too many beer cans and not enough pans. This chicken is moist and flavorful. About the best way there is to cook a chicken. This recipe uses a smoker to slow roast the chicken with lots of smoky flavor. INGREDIENTS: •1 whole chicken •1 can of beer •2 tablespoons chopped onion •2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar •3 cloves garlic minced PREPARATION: Preheat smoker. Wash and trim chicken. While the smoker heats up, open the beer and drink half and only half. With a can opener, cut the top of the beer can off. Add onion, vinegar and garlic to beer. When the smoker is read place the beer in the middle of the rack. Carefully place the chicken over the beer standing up. You might need to get a little creative to make it stand up properly. Make sure the beer can is completely covered by the chicken. Smoke for about 4 hours or until the skin is a dark tan and the meat is pink and juices run clear. Hope you enjoy your mouth-watering Beer Butt Chicken floridaparrothead and maybe the after-dinner show! Save the parrot by the way!

Yes!! Best Chicken I've ever eaten. Actually there is a cook book out called "Beer-Can Chicken" by Stephen Raichlen. Great Grilling: In a Leaf, In the Embers, On a Plank, Under a Brick, Over Hay, On a Can, In a Shell.

No. Why would I do that? That is bizarre. Is that from a recipe? I think I saw a recipe called 'Beer Can Chicken' once.
I suggest stuffing a cornbread stuffing or some cooked mashed potatoes mixed with vegetables instead. Save the beer for beer battered fish. You could use a little sherry or wine to flavour the chicken, along with garlic, honey mustard sauce, and dill.

Yes, and this is THE BEST way to cook a whole chicken...as long as its done on the grill, over charcoal. Don't use a "light" beer (i.e. Bud Light), and take a few sips out of it before you stick the can in the holder. I also put a few spices (cayanne pepper and taragon) in the beer can. use a basic rub for the chicken, like virgin olive oil and cayanne pepper, or lemon pepper.
You can buy the stand at Bed,Bath&Beyon or Walmart for around $3. This is my favorite way to cook chicken by far. It will come out SO juicy.

No, however, if you opened the can and cooked it the beer or soda would give the chicken moisture from the contents of the can, sounds like it would work great.
Let us know if you try it.
Good Luck

Would you like for someone to shove a barrel bomb up yours and light it? Didn't think so... Your question could have been put together a little better than that. I cook with beer and wine from time to time but never done that.
