just be very gentle and loving.... play and love and attention.. she is putting her head down because she is letting you know that you are the dominate one.... it takes alot of love, time & patience...alot of patience.... when she lays down try to get her to sit up... once she will lots of love and praise.... play works really well to... i think that she trusts you but she is still afraid....

All you can do is show her love and play with her- throw a tennis ball for her to retrieve. She is probably expecting the same from you that she got from a previous owner. Teach her to sit rather than lay down on her back or start rubbing her tummy and coo-ing over her so she knows she's not going to get a beating. She may already trust you in a lot of respects but physical abuse takes a long time to overcome and forget.
Good luck and give your doggy a big 'meow' (hello) from my cats Figaro & Rosina.
Have a great day!!!

hi there im sorry to hear that here is my story about my Siberian Husky she is 11 yrs old now
I got her when she was about a year old came from a abusive home. To be honest I really didnt want her my dog just passed and I didnt want a big dog. Well it was either take her or she was going to be taken to the humane society. Well I was emotional anyways from losing my pet and I took her in .
She must have been hit when she came around humans and when she tried to give kisses which I love from dogs she was slapped . She wont give kisses and she really wants no part of our family. Even after 10 yrs now. I have tried I have never raised my hand to her but the abuse must have been bad. She does come to us if we call her and she wags her tail but as far as being part of the family like a dog usually is she isnt. It's very sad she is a beautiful dog and so well mannered but she just isnt a loving dog.
I just another dog this past Friday and wasnt planning on another one since I have my Husky but the house felt empty because she is not a social dog due to the abuse . She stays inside with me but she always goes in the hallway to lay or somewhere else not with the family unless you have food
I ended up going to the pound on Sat and getting me a pup . They get along really well and play and Im hoping that might bring her out of it.
I just dont know how to help you on this I have tried 10 yrs with her and she is just not a social dog with our family which is very sad. I hope you have much better luck then I did with my Husky

dogs grieve. Your dogs is lacking his better half purely such as you're. interior the 1800's in Edinburgh Scotland there grew to become right into a guy and a splash Skye terrier named Bobby. The dogs and guy have been jointly for 2 years and then the guy died. Bobby grew to become into virtually the only one on the guy's funeral. After the guy grew to become into buried Bobby remained on the guy's grave. Bobby stayed by making use of the grave via summer season and wintry climate, via snow and rain. The cities people fed the little dogs. Bobby stayed committed and close to his masters grave till his own loss of life 14 years later. the city buried Bobby beside his grasp and erected a statue of the Skye terrier interior the cemetery. isn't this a amazing tale approximately loyalty and friendship and a splash dogs named Bobby? purely provide your dogs extra interest and time to heal his coronary heart and life. If yet another dogs is what your loved ones want than by making use of all ability get one.

Ok, the display of head down and on the back is a submissive display. She is letting you know that you are in charge and she will not chalenge that authority. The trust will come in time. Just love and play with her, she will come around. The best way to encourage the trust factor is to take her for walks. 30 mins at a time. 2 to 3 times a day. Remember, it will take time.

You will need to be very patient with it. It will take time for it to change its behaviour and especially at its age. It will do to be kind and gentle with it. Be firm but not use a raised voice or harsh commands. You should get it used to you touching and handling it but not excessively at the start. You should look for things it responds to, things that excite it and you can take it from there. A good idea would be to spend a lot of time outdoors with it. Try and get it to be active and walk it around regularly. Games will also be very good for it, try making it fetch thrown balls or sticks and also try bringing it into contact with other dogs, if that helps. If it reacts badly to something, stop it and try something else. All animals have personality and it will take time to change what it has learned and has become used to but you can only love it, be nice to it and be patient with it.

This may sound wierd. But it'll work. Treat her like one of the family. Love her like your own kind. Pets understand. She lies on the back to coax you to love her, it's a kind of complete submission to you. The fact that she responds to your call is because she trusts you. She probably needs more love and care than a normal pet would, maybe due to the past. They also have feelings. Respect them. I'm sure you'll get through

In time you will earn her trust, for now, try not to yell or hit and when you are proud, praise her, give her treats and tons of love. She will eventually learn that you are not going to hurt her and that you are a loyal owner, in return she will become loyal. It does take some time, I have seen it take a year, depending on how abused she was. I can't stress enough, that love will tender her broken heart! Good luck!

Make sure when you call her towards you, your eye line is on the same level as the dog give her loads of praise as she comes to you and a treat when she does. Always talk to her in a soft spoken voice & never make any sudden movements around her. If you do make her jump make a big fuss of her. Hope that is a start.

Get down on her level. Hold your hand out to her with the palm up. If you reach down to touch her, she may be expecting you to hit her. Just use a lot of patience and love. Spoil her with food treats and I mean table food that she might like such as chicken, hamburger, etc. Hand feed her. I ususually just give mine dog food, but one like her needs extra spoiling. She will come around. Just love her.
