I am 17 and a senior in high school. Last week I finally talked to this girl I really like in the library after school. She is the really shy type so she doesn't start conversations at all. We don't even know each other's names but we hit it off pretty good. She started smiling and talking, etc. She doesn't go to the library often because she leaves school at lunch (the same time I do.) She takes the bus home after school so I see her walking through the hallway and she doesn't have much time to talk. My questions are as follows:

-Should I approach her through the hallway as she's leaving or wait for another chance in the library? (She goes like once every 3 weeks.)

-When I do approach her, what should I talk about to get things started?

-Where would be a good place to ask her out to? I don't want anything too strong but something to get the point across. (remember, she's 17 and really really shy. =)

-When would be a good time to ask her out?

Any help would be great.

Well, do you drive to school? If so, you could start by asking her if she wants a ride home. I'm sure she HATES taking the bus if she is 17. That would give you the perfect opportunity to talk to her, and then if she accepts your offer, you would get to know her better. Offer to pick her before school too.

You'll know when the time is right to ask her on a date. If she accepts, don't take her out to eat. Shy girls have a hard time eating in front of boys. Take her to a movie. Movies are always good first dates.

Good luck!!

I'm sort of a shy person until you get to know me. Approach the shy-er (shier? shyer? ehh!) girls as you would anyone else. Smile and be friendly because I love friendly people. It makes me feel like I can open up too. I'm not sure what kinda help you want. If you are going after a shy girl, you'll probably have to start the first conversations until she gets more confidence around you. Good luck with whoever you're after! (P.S. While you wait for more answers, want to check out mine?)

Run into her whenever you can, and just give her time. once she gets to know you she'll open up. Once you start talking more, get her number. Ask her out to something simple like a movie or lunch, then go from there. you're going to have to start the conversations, at first just talk about general stuff, find out what she's interested in and then tell her about yourself too, talk about school. I used to be painfully shy and socially akward, so I can kinda see what she's like. Good luck. Oh yeah, you might want to introduce yourself too.

Don't wait to seek her out! Go to her in the hall while she's on the way, walk her to the bus, thats really sweet.

You could start a conversation, or you could ask how she is and how the day has been going for her... then since she has a short amount of time, ask her if she'd like to go to a coffe shop to get to know each other. ask for her # AND ask if its ok to call her. if she gives you th number then no need for asking if its ok to call obviously.... :)

I know this from experience... I was once the shy girl myself, and Mr. wonderful did this.... we had a really great 9 months together... good luck...

and congrats early on your graduation!!!

Maybe you should leave a note in her locker and ask if you could meet her somewhere she's comfortable (Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.). Don't waste anytime. And sign the note with something cute like "Chatty guy from library".

I would try another chance in the library. Strike up a conversation and then casually ask her if she is dating anyone.Try your luck, all she can say is yes or no!

You need to get her attention long enough to get her phone number. Call her a few days later and ask her out.
