best thing to do is make copies on ur computer so u just burn 1 off for hard use e.g the car c.d's r so cheap now
or to fix an old disc use a soft cloth wipe vinegar over it place in the freezer over night ;) trust me.

1: if you dont take care of then they can be damage
2:leaving CDs in hot areas (such as inside car)
on the dashboard will damage the cd
3:slim line scratches .will go on the cd from the cd drive .over time .if you get a deep scratch.then the cd .drive cant read what is on the cd.
if the cd .is cracked in.then the cd.will not work anymore

From carelessness. Letting them sit on things will scratch them. Always put them into a case, or better yet..burn them immediately so you don't worry about losing or scratching them. You can also buy a machine that takes the scratches off. Go to the Electronics dept. in Target.
The sun: It can cause damage, heat can make the disc melt slightly.

User carelessness. Excessive heat can warp a CD. Quality can be distorted or completely ruined.

By letting anyone under the age of 25 handle them. They have to be kept in cases when not in use. You can't just pile them in stacks or lay them on top of your cd player. Never try to wipe them off if they get debris on them. You have to dip them in clear water first and then dry them with a CLEAN cloth.
