The reliability of the Christian Scriptures is confirmed by many ancient sources 500 - 600 years before Islam. They agree that the scriptures were written by both eyewitnesses and their close associates. Many other eyewitnesses were still alive who could have disputed any errors. There is actually more evidence for the crucifixion of Jesus than many other historical events which are accepted as fact.

Some F1Rst century, non-Christian, historical sources which testify that Jesus was put to death.

The Jewish Talmud.

In the "Annals" written by Roman historian Tacitus, in Book XV, Chapter 44 we read, "Christus, the founder of the name, was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius."

Jewish historian Josephus also wrote about the death and Resurrection of Jesus.

The Roman Historian Seutonius wrote in his work "Life of the Emperor Claudius" the following about Christians: "and deny the gods of Greece, and worship the crucified sage, and live after his laws."

The Roman historian Pliny wrote about Jesus' death in Book X of his Epistles.

Julius Africanus, quoting Thallus another Roman historian, who wrote in about 52 A.D. about the miraculous happenings the day the Son of God was killed. He wrote: "On the whole world there pressed a most fearful darkness; and the rocks were rent by an earthquake, and many places in Judea and other districts were thrown down."

The Quran itself instructs Muslims, not to question the authority of the Old or New Testaments of the Bible: "And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; Sura 29:46
Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law (Torah), the Gospel (Injeel), and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." Sura 5:68

Muslims are taught that Judas took Jesus place on the cross.

Muhammad was mistaken when he wrote the quran. If his followers were to admit to this (your posted question) then they might doubt other things that their prophet wrote.

We can't change the truth of history. Some have tried but have failed.

There are historical documents (Roman and others) that proved there was a man from Nazareth named Jesus. He paid taxes, made Rabbi's mad and was crucified for it.

Again, look at Roman history. It can't be denied (okay it can but you can't re-write history).

The Josephus writings look like forgeries and it is not just Islam that believes that the crucifiction of the `Jesus` character in the Bible was actually the character that was crucified. Many Gnostic Christian groups believe that too.

You must remember that religion was created by man and that its myths and stories are there to carry a message, mostly political, sometimes spiritual. The Bible is not the written word of God it is the words of many men, manipulated, changed, twisted, distorted, added too and removed from over many years.
That is fact.

Blind faith has no substance.

Well one historian JOSEPHUS who was a jew testified to the fact that Jesus walked on the earth and the effect he had on people. So he definately wasnt a myth or fairy story as some have already mentioned. I think these people who are so against believing in the bibles message must be weak minded. So you dont believe that God created the world but you do believe that life started through a big bang and through some bubbling soup, which has no scientific proof. I know which one really sounds like a fairy story.

Firstly, Christianity was written by the Victors of the battle between Jesus and Evil men. From what I understand, Muslims do not deny the Crucifixion of Yashua Bar Joseph, they just don't consider him to be the Son of God.

Most religions lie to their followers about their true relationship with God, saying that "God only has one Son" - however, the Lords prayer is in direct contention with the message they preach: Our Father who art in Heaven...

(Q: Why say Our Father - if God is not our father too???)

Many people have tried to explain Jesus's words as being "only man where God was his Father, full stop". However logically, if God made everything, God is every-ones father, equally...

There are many angles at which to look at this question in fact too many to list here. Basically the accounts of the crucifixion were written about 200 years after the event in essence that's like us writing about The battle of Waterloo or The Battle of Trafalgar. But try reading one of the many books on the subject eg. The Jesus Papers exposing the Greatest Cover-up in History by Michael Baigent

Hmmm, muslims first of all consider it a blasphemy to say that Jesus is the Son of God(like Jews did and still think),they consider Jesus as a prophet and that He didnt really got in the cross but God has put another mans body there so that He doesnt suffer. They do that because for us christians Jesus by crucifixion and by His blood and through His resurrection made it possible for us today to ask for forgiveness and be able to have eternal life,if they accept that all their religion is falling down.So they had to "cancel" something" so that their theory stands. They are using mostly the old testament like the jews ,the impressive thing is that many of them belive that when the end of the world comes Jesus will come to judge people!!!!!!!
Doesnt that makes you wonder?I told one of them once if i knew who was gonna come and judge me for my deeds and words,i would try to restore my relationship with him and not any others like muhamed

you have a funny idea of what constitutes 'fact'.
there is no other *credible* source that confirms the jesus myth.
(some people point to the writings of josephus, but that particular source was debunked as a christian addition to an existing text)

in fact, the events portrayed by the gospels do NOT knit with accepted history - for example, Herod the great great died in 4 BC, whereas the great roman census was about 6 AD.
the jesus myth can be seen to have borrowed heavily from other middle eatern religions, especially mithraism.

sorry to burst your christian bubble

Roman Historians have confirmed this as fact. They were very sure of their facts at the time as where Jesus was put to death was an important part of their Empire.

How can you site ONE reference source of evidence as absolute proof of the Crucifixion???????
That's like a murderer relying totally on his own testimony as proof of his innocence.
IF Jesus did exist then yes the Romans probably did kill him, the same as they did with all (as they called them) barbarians (Anyone who didn't live the Roman way of life) who wouldn't convert to "Romanism"
BUT IF Jesus was such a thorn in their side why not make a spectacle of his death and send him to the Cirus Maximus to be mauled by wild animals in front of a blood thirsty crowd, rather than nail him to a bit of wood out side the city walls?
