They don't use a tissue either; just their bare finger. It's really gross!

Let me explain. There are 2 cases. The first one, when they use their finger, well, that is plain gross and they do it because they are sick and ill-mannered. But, on the other hand, there is the second case, when they use the tissue. When I was a kid in elementary, some doctor told me and my class to blow one nostril at a time. It's actually healthier. When you blow your nose, you create a certain pressure and a certain force. When blowing both nostrils at the same time, it seems the force can be too big, and you can rupture some stuff in there. That can cause nose bleeding and hyper-sensitivity. So it's not such a bad thing to cover one nostril, as long as it's with a tissue, of course.

Some feel it is more effective than just blowing with both nostrils into a tissue.

This is also referred to as a "Farmer's blow".
Closing on nostril creates enough pressure in the other one to evacuate the passage.
When you don't have a tissue it is the "cleanest" method available.
If tissues are available then it is just gross.

It forces all air to go to the clogged nostril to get whatever was in there out or they don't have any tissue to properly blow

They do it because they are retarded and most likely inbred !
Anyone with manners will excuse them self and blow in private whether they use their hand, their underware or a curtain, we should NOT know about it...blowing ones nose in public especially at the dinner table is a sign of stupidity!

Hey! Blowing a Snot-Rocket is a fine skill. Having it all come out and none stick to you is the equivalent of a 10 in diving.

Medically its the proper way to use when you want to "clean" your nose,i can't remember now exactly to explain it to you but its the proper way,if you blow both nostrils it could do damage to you,no matter how disgusting it looks its the right thing to do

Because they are bottom-feeding-mouth-breathers who are too lazy, or dumb, to grab a tissue. There is NEVER an appropriate time to launch snot out of your nose!

I have no idea but my dad did it all my growing years. It is the most disgusting thing there is.
Well maybe my two year old grandson picking his nose and wiping it on my back this morning was worse. I'm not sure. lol

my best friend and i used to have competitions to see whos snot would reach the bottom of a short decline first, byt doing that exact thing, we called it the farmers blow. And yes I am a girl, so was she.
