Kids always try to act older than they are because they want to BE older. They usually can't get away with it in the real world because people can tell just by looking at them that they are kids. On line it's easier to get away with because it's an anonymous forum and people can't actually SEE them.

Kids going through teen years seem to think that being older or being an adult is "cool". They see it as more freedom and a chance to enjoy all the things they perceive adults as being allowed to do but not kids.
If only they knew the bills, responsibilities and stress that come along with being an adult they would really slow down and enjoy being kids!

Because they can. No matter what we parents try to supervise and prevent it, it just happens. It's a sad society we live in today. My 13 year old son asked online - at school - what DSL means and one answer was correct the other information had nothing to do with computers. It was absolutely appalling. And he asked his teacher to see what was there and my son got in trouble for lewd conduct. It was not his fault!

Because they think they can blend in with older adult's, you can tell who is and who isn't older because of their ?'s and their answers. I guess most pre-teens and little kids under 10 act older because they think it okay to talk and try to let people meet up with them, Just look for stuiped answers and stupied ?'s and ignore them.. Most likely because every kid wants to grow up as fast as possible and it's a way to make them feel older. :)

if you are talking about preteen and teenagers, they screw around online because a.) they are exploring the early stages of adulthood; b.) they are trying to test your limits as a parent to see how far they can go; c.) they are paying you back for all the hell you put your parents through.

I think they are jus immature and need to grow up...just a sec I gotta get off the computer my mom said my big sister gets to use it and I think my diaper is leaking.

If they were mature they wouldn't need to. It is equally annoying when you can tell that they are kids.
