When I look at the sky, I always wonder who created all these beautiful stars.
When I wonder round the woods, listening to the songs of the birds, and the sweetness of the plant, I ask, how are things so beautiful.
When I am older, people told me it is God, someone mighty who made all these, and thus I was propel to find out more about his person God.
In the Psalms, the Psalmist too, maval at the creations of God, by just looking at the stars. There must be someone of higher intel that have all these put in place.
I am from Asia, and parents do not know God. Preacher? Never come close. I read for I wand to know, who is this Jesus who actually die for me, even before I know him.
I was once a gangster, and loyality, brotherhood is place higher than other things. The love that Jesus gave, (I heard from a friend) was far greater than any gangster I ever know. Thus I want to know who this person is. That is how I come to read the Bible.
Allow me to share with yo umy mon's experience. She saw me coming home more regularly, and began to read the book which she came to know is bible. She asked for one in Chinese, and began reading by her own whenever she is free.
Soon, she follow me to church, and even urge me to be baptised. On one faithful Christmas, we baptised together.
How? This is how.

I was invited to read the Bible by many, and rejected all but one invitation. It was by my own choice that I believed it.
And I never learned about God from my family, as they were all indifferent to religion. Nor did I learn about God from my preacher, because I only went to Sunday School as a kid, and was only taught about Jesus.
For some reason, I've always known about Him, for as long as I could remember. However, it was only until I met my husband that I read the Bible and learned about Him.

Wow. None of those people told me to. I chose to read it on my own. I don't think I learned of God only after I read the Bible. That claim short changes my own intelligence.
I'm sorry that you haven't experienced something that many of us clearly have. Maybe, if you are truly interested, you one day will. Until then, you won't believe what you don't want to, and I will believe what I've experienced. I used to be an athiest.

Your wrong no one raised me in church and I didn't have a preacher. I came to a place in my life where I couldn't go on I prayed and all of a sudden unexplainable things started happening to me, so I realized that the Bible must be true and began to read it to see if it was. And it was.

Slow down there!
I read the Bible of my own free will after being confused by all the different teachings about it. I decided to see what it said for myself. I read the Greek as well as a half dozen other translations and interpretations.
As for believing it, based upon what it said, believing it was an obvious conclusion. You should try it some time.

No, my parents did not tell me to read and believe the Bible. I grew up in a nominally Christian home. We went to church Sunday morning until I was about 10 years old. Then, it became too inconvient. God played no part in our outside-of-church lives.
I don't remember anything my pastors had said. I really didn't listen. I remember very little of sunday school. Perhaps these people did tell me to read and believe the Bible, but I don't remember. But, even if they did, I never did do what I was told just because I was told to do it. I had to know why.
Six years after we quit going to church, a friend asked me to go to church with him one evening. I had no desire to go home, so on May 10, 1982, after track practice at school, I went to church for the first time in about 6 years.
I don't remember who the preacher was or what the sermon was about. I do remember that he told me all about myself. He pointed out things that I already knew about, like even though I try to be good, I still did things that were wrong and sometimes I did them intentionally. He gave these wrong things a name, sin.
Now, I grew up in the country and spent as much time as I could in the woods. It was the one place I felt at home. This preacher showed me that nature itself argues for the existance of a creator. The commonalities found in nature argue for this creator's existance just as the commonalities found in the buildings designed by a specific engineer show a single designer.
This made at least as much sense as evolution as taught by my biology teacher. She taught that all life evolved first from non-living things and then, as mutations formed, life-forms became more and more complex. Both would tend to explain the commonalities found in nature.
But, the preacher also pointed out that there are consequences for wrong doing in this life. Somewhere, someone had to decide what was right and what was wrong. If it is left up to people to decide, then right and wrong will change over time and from person to person. This leaves us with 2 concepts that our society says are wrong: chaos, or "might makes right".
However, he said the alternative is a creator. If this creator exists, then he has the right to decide what is right and what is wrong. This gives us consistancy. And, there is a creator. His name is God. God has given us principles to determine right from wrong and these principles are found in the Bible. Moreover, just as there are consequences in this world for wrong-doing, there are consequences in the next life for wrong-doing. The consequence for wrong-doing is eternal punishment in hell.
However, there is an alternative, Jesus allowed his blood to be shed as payment for our wrong-doing. And, if we will accept that gift, then our sins will be forgiven. And, when this occurs, we are no longer condemned to hell. Instead, we can exist forever with God in heaven, a place where there is no wrong-doing, no suffering, no pain - only goodness.
These things made sense to me (and they still do). I reasoned that, if God's principles are in the Bible, then I need to read and even study the Bible to ensure I know how to live according to his rules (that does not mean that I am always successful).
So, who told me to read and believe the Bible? Perhaps at some point a preacher did tell me when I was very young, but I don't remember it. At one level, I told myself. I recognized the need. At another level, I have learned after studying the Bible, it was God, the Holy Spirit, who directed me. I am sorry if you don't l ike the answer, but the truth is the truth whether you like it or not.

You people will never learn. I think if no one had told me about religion, I would have figured it out on my own. My God is so strong within me, I can actually feel his physical presence. Don't go knocking my God, the Son or the Spirit. If I had to, I would lay my life down for them. Is there anything in your life you would willingly do that for?

I actually studied a lot of religions to pick one seperate from the one my parents chose, but upon researching and reading found that the Bible was indeed what I found to be truthful.
