Ignore him until he calms down and only give him attention then. This has to be done all the time, both at home and in public. Ignore him and lean back if he jumps on you. Don't push him down because that is contact he wants. I highly recommend that you read "The Dog Whisperer" by Cesar Millan. I think you will find that it will really help you take control of your mutt.

You must persist. He will learn through repitiion and firmness.

Go to obedience class and practice working with him under distracting conditions.

You have a high-energy mix there, and he is probably still young. Age will take care of some of the problem.

Make sure he is getting enough exercise. Find an activity that he likes that will tire him out. A tired dog is a good dog.

If its a young dog then its normal. When company comes work with him. Get him to sit and don't pet him till he sits. When he does sit give him a treat and say good dog (let him whine all he wants). I would say get the visiters to give him treats too but then he would expect every visitor to feed him lol. This worked with my dog.

Doggie training, like with Man's Best Friend. You might check with your local pet store chain (here we have PetSmart and PetCo). Talk to a manager. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.

dogs should be alowed to be dogs. don't tame him that way, he is excited. it should make you smile. I have two shar-pei dogs that are the same way and it just makes me start laughing. I love them. it's why I got them.

That's what happens when you buy an inbread dog. They are untrainable.
