I very much doubt she got the worms from the kitten unless she has been using its litter box as a sandpit. (Btw you should be vaccinating and deworming your cat)
Little kids get worms the same way they get most of the other childhood diseases; through direct contact with other kids. If she goes to school or playgroup (you didnt say how old she is) or she plays regularly with other children, it is very likely that she got them from them. Children have the uncanny habit of not washing their hands after using the loo and kids with worms can get itchy bums so they will undoubtly scratch there and then continue playing happily lol.
Don't worry too much, treatment for worms is quick and effective. I would advise boiling her laundry and her towels till the infestation disappears. Make sure to teach your daughter good hand hygiene and how very important this is.
Good Luck :)
(P.S. to the person who mentioned it, ringworm is not a "worm", its a fungal infection)

Hi no its not from the kitten so dont worry about that, its more then likely from school, play school, friends house its so common worms in children make sure she washes her hands all the time and keep her nails cut very short too.My Nephew get this once and he has no pets,my sister took him to the Drs and he gave my Nephew antibiotics and he had to go after once finishing the course in case they havent gone, also you may have to take a sample with you to show the Dr.Dont share the same towel either and also clean the toilet seat every time some one uses it especially your daughter, and you and your wife will get it,boil her bed sheets too and some on the little worms will more then likely be on there too.Good Luck

There are many kinds of worms. Did you find them in her stool? How did you discover them? Pinworms can be transferred by animals as well as ascarids and both respond well to piperazine an OTC drug. Tapeworms are usually ingests as a gravid proglotid and while you may find segments in the stool, this needs treatment by a physician. (You should also have your cat checked by a vet) Other worms are virtually microscopic but not less dangerous, hookworm is a good example and should be treated by a physician. I suggest making sure that your daughter washes her hands well after playing with the kitten. And make sure the child doesn't have access to the litter box...children do eat strange things.

All humans have at one time or do have worms. It is awful to see and sometimes children are born with worms. I saw a new Mother in the Hospital. She gave birth to a little girl and after the birth, the Mother passed a huge, long , pink, roundworm. It made me sick. Many people suffer from pin worms. Many little children have pin worms and how you can tell they have a major case, by lookiing in the childrens butt holes at night with a flashlight. You will see a sight for sore eyes. Many pin worms, whipping around in the anal area. Gross indeed.

Worms from animals are not the same ones that people get so there is no risk from the cat.
Worms can be contracted from eating certain meats that have not been cooked properly (especially pork) and a lot of children get them, they may have been contracted from someone at school as well.
The chemist will be able to give you treatment for them. Make sure she is not re-infecting herself through nail biting and ensure that she washes her hands regularly and they should not re-occur.

No she didn't get them from the cat. I work with children and have got them twice they are very contagious. Children scratch there wee bums they eggs are transferred under their nails, they may put their fingers in their mouths and the cycle continues. Take your wee one to the docs a simple pill gets rid. And please make sure she washes her hands every time she goes to the loo and maybe she could use a nail brush.
Hope all goes well.

Possibly, but kids tend not to know too much about hygiene and they will put their hands in stuff adults wouldn't touch.
Take her to your doctor who will prescribe the right medication and then ensure that she learns to wash her hands after using the toilet (she can re-infect herself), and whenever she has been playing outside of the house.
Also get your kitten wormed.

Okay what is a wee girl? If you mean your daughter then the only way she can get worms from a kitten is, first the kitten would have to have worms also and your daughter would have to eat the kitten's poop that have the worms in it.

Its quite possible that she got them from the kitten. Bring her to the doctor and get the kitty wormed.
don't worry, kids pick up these things (like head lice), just get it treated and she will be fine.
