whilst Buddhists bow in direction of a statue of Buddha, they don't seem to be praying or worshipping a deity. they are honoring an elementary man or woman -- Shakyamuni Buddha -- who attained enlightenment and became a brilliant instructor. it is amazingly corresponding to how squaddies salute generals -- out of appreciate. Buddhists don't think that Buddha grow to be/is a deity -- Buddhists don't think in any deities.
