I am a Christian and am in the Army. We train all day to bring incredible violence on America's enemies. In the seventh commandment God says that you shall not murder, murder is much different that killing. Some people want to harm others bad enough that the only thing you can do is kill them.
As for person to person violence, I don't think that the New Testament has a specific verse warning against violence but the general principles it teaches do exclude violence.
But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Colossians 3:8
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

Psalms 11:5, "The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth."
Proverbs 28:17, "A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him."
Luke 3:14, "And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages."

After studing the bible, I came to learn that all men and women are made in God's image.
1 John 4:20, If anyone makes the statement: “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot be loving God, whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him, that the one who loves God should be loving his brother also.
James 4: 1 From what source are there wars and from what source are there fights among YOU? Are they not from this source, namely, from YOUR cravings for sensual pleasure that carry on a conflict in YOUR members? 2 YOU desire, and yet YOU do not have. YOU go on murdering and coveting, and yet YOU are not able to obtain. YOU go on fighting and waging war. YOU do not have because of YOUR not asking. 3 YOU do ask, and yet YOU do not receive, because YOU are asking for a wrong purpose, that YOU may expend [it] upon YOUR cravings for sensual pleasure.
4 Adulteresses, do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God
Matt 26: 51 But, look! one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest and took off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Rev 19 describes what Jesus is going to do the armies of this world.

thanks! i'm a non secular Christian yet get so aggravated when I see human beings throwing Bible verses round as absolute data of even if aspect they're attempting to make! Do they no longer understand you'll come across a verse interior the Bible to help just about something? The Bible ought to no longer be used as a weapon to promote lack of information and intolerance.

1) Thou shall not kill!
Actually, Jesus tells us to love one another. So wouldn't that quality that violence is wrong?
