This bothers the heck out of me too when I see it. I think it's a form of abuse to be honest, but no laws are made to enforce this. Instead this child is going to grow up and sadly live the same miserable lifestyle as his parents. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for this. It's just one parent over indulging a child and the pattern is repeated through the generations of that family because it's what they are taught and the only thing they know. That is why schools are stepping up in their physical education classes to teach basic concepts of healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. My sons kindergarten class already did a session on calories and what it takes to burn them off. Hopefully more schools will start picking up on this and the cycle of obesity will stop.

Welcome to America!
Yes, it's bad to be overweight and we shouldn't be allowing kids to become that heavy for health risk. But we also shouldn't be starring and pointing. Unless they sat there and ate 12 boxes of donuts before you.... it's hard to know what they were really doing. Perhaps they were buying them for a church function or for a family event. It's really hard and rough being over weight... I am about a size 14 (and I don't over eat and I go to the gym) and I was just at a yard sale.... I looked at a vintage crib because it was really neat and the woman started asking me when my baby was due. NICE! I could have been buying it for a Friend or just because it was vintage but because I have a little extra junk in the trunk- the woman jump to this conclusion. Just like you are jumping to a conclusion- you don't really know if that boy has a physical problem. He could have a whole in his heart or many other disease that can cause you to be overweight or unable to walk. Yes, I know there is a lot of "fat" kids out there but who are you to judge and survey them all.
I think what your doing is tacky and distasteful.
No one should ever comment on something until they know the FULL story.

It relies upon on what you propose by making use of "in touch". while you're purely stressful with reference to the financial factor of it, i'm afraid that all of us could take some losses in life. sometimes, this may well be a motivator for individuals to overeat.

Who can know why what when or where...you saw someone enter a grocery...I'm not sure what you are asking or why it is important that the boy is overweight. ....
It you want to ask questions ask why people are allowed to purchase steaks and lobster on Food stamps. Ask why people load up on junk food/frozen food with their food stamps every month.

Yes it is her child, but would you stand by while someone punched their child in the face? Sometimes I have to say something that might be one of those times. Or write a quick note and try to drop it in her purse or cart, tell her no child is going to have a fun childhood if they are obese.

Im not saying its right, but some people simply have horrible eating habits and to deny our children of goodies is difficult.

Because they aren't willing to educate themselves about childhood obesity. Chances are they have NO idea what they are doing to their child!!

BECAUSE IT'S HER CHILD AND SHE CHOOSES HOW TO RUIN HIS LIFE.......ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDREN, THEN YOU CAN, HOPEFULLY DO BETTER THAN THAT....BECAUSE TRUTHFULLY, IT IS A FORM OF CHILD NEGLECT. SHE IS NEGLECTING HIS HEALTH....BUT IT IS HER CHILD.
