Okay I am going to try to put this in a short context. I had been sentenced to one year of probation (in a county I don't live in.) and I went up there for a whole year and paid off all my fines, and done everything I was supposed to. The problem is this. When I got off probation in July (2006) and I was done paying all my fines on the last visit to my probation officer she said that I have a warrant out for my arrest in that county. I have not gotten into any trouble (at all) and I have done everything the courts had told be to. The strangest part of all is this warrant was issued in January and she didn't tell me about it till July. After I paid the probation off. Can someone tell me whats going on???? PS: They said it was for Contempt of Court, but I never had a court date set after that one I went to.

Contempt of Court could result from any number of things and without knowing what you were on probation for it would be hard to say for certain. However if you had defaulted on your probation somehow then it would have been your probation officer who pressed the charges and she should have told you why and notified you sooner. But if you were on probation with restraning orders against you and you violated those orders then the person with the order could have been responsible for the warrent and unfortunatley due to our very slow legal system your probation officer may have not been notify toill much later. Also very unfortunatly because warrents are issued at the push of a button upon any persons request, without having to have evidence that a law has been broken, anyone who has a grudge against you may have lied and used the justice system to exact revenge. My suggestion to you would be to first find what is the pretense of the warrent, who swore it out against you and then if there is no fact to it, plead not guilty. I will tell you this, rarely, unless the contempt was a major crime or default on paying your probation fine, rarely will than extend your probation for it. P.S. I notice many of the other people telling you to get a lawyer, I personally would not suggest this to begin with. Find out for yourself who and why the charges were brought aginst you. Most Contempt charges are minor and if guilty can usually be taken care of by yourself simple by paying a small fine, a lawyer wether you are guilty or not is most of the time just gonnna take lots of your money and leave you to provide all the evidence anyway.Sorry to say but most lawyers are contemptable themselves. Als fact is if you were at the end of your probation ,even if it was serious enough to revoke your probation they can not sentence you to serve but only the amount of time left on your probation.

It seems they are holding you in contempt on a differnt warrant, since you have supposedly, done your probation for the previous crime.( what were the conditions of your probation? I doubt it was just paying a fine, or reporting to your probation officer, every so often.)

Surely, you probation officer would know what crime you are being charged with, or why you have a new warrant for contempt.( VOP? violation of probation)

If your probation officer can not answer your questions, seek out an attorney. There are attorneys that do pro bono work, through legal aid clinics.

Sounds like you need a lawyer, if for no other reason than to clear this matter up, once and for all.

Were you ever late of a fine payment? Most of the time a contempt of court means you didn't do what the judge sentence you to do including paying your fines monthly. Call the Clerks office and ask about having the warrant pulled and put on the court plea docket and talk to the Judge about it. They will be able to explain why a warrant was issued and if it was done in error then it will be corrected.

If all that you say is true; I would hire an attorney and get this matter straightened out, maybe they have mistaken you with someone else and have gotten some sort of data messed up and entered wrongful information into your file! Whatever the case; I'd seriously hire an attorney! GOOD LUCK! Gather up all your legal documents received and filed to the state for proof also!

Go to the circuit clerks office and request a paper showing all your court dates. Double check the papers they have given you. if your name is common you may be taking the rap for someone else due to a clerical error. Hope this helps

You need to call up your lawyer, they might be scewing with you, or it might be a mistake, get a lawyer as soon as possible, because you're almost out of trouble and it would suck to gt dragged back into it by ignoring whatever is coming down the pipe.
