If you call the department that picked him up they should be able to answer. he should not be in there for very long just processing and releasing. I did this with my daughter in July but it makes you nervous when they walk away with your cash. hopefully there was someone who saw you give the officer the cash.

The Judge has to see him before he can be released. Probably sometime today because after a weekend they usually need to bond out alot of people picked up over the weekend. Just be patient he will be out soon.
And you people are so suspicious of police. Do you know that I worked as a District Court Clerk for 9 years and not one time did we have anyone tell us they paid a police officer, unless they had a receipt paying at the police department. Don't you people understand that from the Police, to the Secretary of the PD, to the Clerk we all have to balance the money. Then we all get audited to make sure no one has stollen any money. Even ticket books get auditied. Just understand that the Police have way too much work on their hands to "think" about how they could scam some money off some poor drunk jerk. lol Think about it people...give them some credit. :)

Don't ever give money to the police, take it to the jail or to the court. He could say it was a bribe or never turn the money in. Did he give a receipt or something with the amount and his name on it, if not, you may got screwed. He should have been out by now. That happend to me once and I couldn't prove that I gave the cop the money without the receipt. Go or call the jail and ask about it now.

Did you get a receipt for the $200? Have you contacted an attorney? Have you called the jail?
It could be anywhere from hours to days, and depending on the officer, the $200 payment could be all that's necessary (as well as a fine), or you simply lined the officer's pockets.
Get a lawyer.

It usually will take up to 2-3 hours
try to call your husbands work, maybe it was some kind of scam and your husband is ok? It would be very easy to dress as a police officer and go around the houses telling people that their relatives got arrested and ask for money, ehhe

first thing you do is call the chief of police and tell him, cops are not allowed to take money from you, that is between a bondsman and you. He can get into some serious sht. Never give money to a police officer. contact them immediately, only talk to the chief and if nothing is done than go to a lawyer and the local newspaper and put your story out there, they don't like negitive media attention and it will get the ball rolling

I wouldn't listen to most of the fools on this site...police accept money all the time...it is called BAIL and if you did give this money to a real officer, was it the arresting officer? he probably was aware how much your husband would need to bail himself out....that said the lenth of time varies greatly depending on the department/jail ..could be minutes or hours, you could always call the police station where he is being booked and ask...good luck.

Cops are not the cashiers of society. You dont give them money. Look at the ticket for instructions on payment or call the local police department for instructions.

I hope that was the cop at the police station who gave you a receipt for it. Otherwise it was just an extortion trick and that money is out but your husband is still in.
