Hello ! I have been on a diet and excersising since May of this year. I am happy with my results however, I just am starting to feel like I want to give up and quit like I always have. I am struggling so much with my negative thoughts and tell myself that I am not so bad where I am right now. I was even able to fit into Misses clothes and designer clothes for the first time in 23 years ! You would think that would be motivation enough. It's not. I have never weighed this less in 23 years either. But trying to lose weight for another 3 months and another 30 pounds just seems too hard and unreal. I can not seem to get under 200 pounds no matter what I do I am stuck in a slump. I need help before I go back to being what I was. And that was a 262 pound size 24. Any ideas ?
Please help me

Hello Bridgett,

You can do it! Hang in there! You can achieve your goal. Just imagine how well you will look by Christmas! Imagine how upset you will be with yourself when the holidays roll around if you give up now. You have come so far, don't throw in the towel.

But whatever type of plan you are following that has eanabled you to lose weight should not be considered a "DIET". For long term weight loss, it has got to be a lifestyle change, a new way of eating, a way of eating that you will continue on even after you have lost the weight. If you lose weight and then go back to the ways you used to eat, you gain it back and then some. So make it a "LIFESTYLE CHANGE". If and when you get off of your diet, you have to have a strategy for keeping the weight off. That strategy is a lifestyle change, not a diet.

I used to battle with my weight big time. I am now a vegetarian and pretty much eat as much as I want and don't have to worry about gaining weight. If that is something you would be interested in please email me and I will be glad to share some insight with you.

Best of luck to you. YOU CAN DO IT!

And if you are feeling deprived, and are wanting to give up on losing anymore weight, go to a nice restaurant and treat yourself, then get back to eating right tomorrow. Nothing wrong with splurging once a week. Splurging, in moderation once a week, can be an enjoyable and heathy part of the lifestyle changes you need to adopt to lose and maintain a heathy weight.

I understand that dieting is very hard . But was seems to be the hardest part for you is not the dieting but your attitude towards the dieting and that can be very hard to change. Here are a couple tips to help you be more positive- never think you have to do something. Keep in mind this is something you really want and worked hard for. In dieting you will always hit a plateau where it feels like no matter what you do you can't lose any more weight- this means its time to step it up a little more or maybe try a new diet and a different type of exercise. Just remember the goal. Do not obsess about the obstacles ahead and just believe that you can do it because you can and you have! You have come really far and just think how bad you will feel in a few months when you have gained back all the weight because you gave up now. Stick with it you will be very happy you did. Good luck!!

You are doing sooo great, don't give up now. You have lost over 30 pounds and you just want to quit? Look at how far you have come and think how great it will be when you finally reach your goal. What you need is a good swift kick in the pants for even thinking about stopping now. You can do this, I am rooting for you all the way!!! You have to come back and tell the world that you did it and how wonderful you look and feel. Now get off that computer and go take a walk young lady!!! It will do you good. I think I might just take my own advice and do that myself!!!

Just have faith and you will succeed, my prayers are with you!

What helps motivate me is having a dog that I can take walking and running - because I'm responsible for somebody else I can't skip. If you don't have, or don't want a dog, find a friend or somebody that will hold you accountable and maybe even join you. Don't look ahead 3 months - that's too far away. Think about how good you are going to feel after workout today and how great you'll feel when you get up in the morning. Take it day by day. It's great that you can recognize your weakness and are wanting to fight it!

Why do you need motivation to live healthy? Sounds like your doing well, dont you want it to continue. Having controll over your health will be a great reward for loosing the weight you want to lose. I guess its only up to you, but think about how it will be when you get older and are over weight, do you see old fat people? No because they are unhealthy and die early. Being healthy will have a huge impact on the happiness of your life, not that you cant be over weight and happy, being healthy just gives you more possabilities
