I can go for as long as 2 mos w/o going to the bathroom and then when I do, I get stomach sick, sweaty, a bit light headed. Sometimes I feel that way for a few minutes and then have the feeling of going, yet when I do it realyy wasn't worth the pain effort and energy I had to put into it. I have gained weight but I know my stomach is extended. This has been going on for quite a while now. Dr's prescribe fibers OTC meds and so on but I don't want to bandage the problem I want to fix it. Any ideas

Fiber is not a bandage - it is an important treatment for many bowel problems. You need to change the way you eat drastically! But first you should see a gastro-entrologist, as your bowel may have been damaged by your low-fiber diet.

If you check out okay, eliminate meat and sugar from your diet and try to eat as little "white" food (pasta, potatoes, white bread) as you can. Raw fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans, and any brightly-colored food (carrots, yams, blueberries, etc.) are all important. This may not sound especially appealing to you if you have been living on meat and starch/sugar, but you're killing yourself with your current diet, so just get over it.

But don't do anything until you see a COMPETENT doctor and tell him/her everything about your problem! The above is ONLY if the doctor says it is safe to have a high-fiber diet!

You need a specialist. NOW. It's not normal not to move your bowels for 2 months. It's downright dangerous. Do your doctors know how long you've had this problem and how serious it is? You may have an intestinal blockage, and if so, you need immediate attention. Please don't wait.

First be sure to see your doctor and that he knows it has been so long. It may just be you do not get enough fiber in your diet or you may have a blockage.
