depends upon how big a piece. if you need a fairly large piece go to a search engine find a Native American web site which supplies these type of items. they can sell the obsidian to you. if this doesn't work go to a rock and gem store site.

You might try looking along railroad tracks. Most of the railroad beds here in georgia are lined with igneous and metamorphic stone, hard to find any volcanic glass larger than an inch or two in diameter though.
