Potatoes have a lot of carbs in them. If the carbs aren't burned off, they turn into sugar in your blood. The spike of so much sugar in your blood makes you sleepy. So eat some fruit, cheese, and drink lots of water. Or get up and walk around if you feel sleepy. Good luck!

Don't blame the potato. Many meals mid-day give you the after-lunch "slump". It's natural. If you still have time in your lunch break, try a 5-15 minute siesta. Studies show it actually helps your afternoon performance.

It might be too starchy for you. Carbs make you sleepy. Try something with more protein, like curried egg salad with plenty of lettuce, shredded carrots, tomatoes, scallions, a few scattered nuts and an olive oil dressing and a yogurt; or three bean salad with tuna, tomatoes and onions, drink orange juice.

I don't think it is the potato. Perhaps you are not getting enough sleep at night. Perhaps your job is boring or dull.
