When making a sandwich i dont butter both sides, only butter both pieces of bread.

It depend on the sandwish that you making , sometime I dont , sometime I do . Do you toast the bread , are not If you do it better to butter both side , if not I dont because the butter will take the taste of your meat that you put in your sandwich .

No, only the sides that go inward with the filling in between...get greasy fingers otherwise...unless its for a toastie then the buttered side goes on the outside.

I don't put butter nor mayo in my sandwiches unless they are grilled cheese they i put on both sides outside.

I butter both sides, my grandma used to do it for me as a kid and I just got used to it. Funny thing is, is that I used to hate it

I butter both sides, but outside, then you placed it in a hot pan and it gets delicious, toasted with melt cheese.

Yes I do! It runs in the family I suppose - that's how my mother, bless her, did it and my grandmother.
The introduction of spreadable butter though has made it a hell of a lot easier. And sometimes I use mayonnaise.

Nah me either. You cant taste the difference whether its one or two sides buttered.
