It seems that that the report in the French news paper indicating typhoid may have killed OBL, was not substantiated. In order to fulfill the role of the mahdi (divinely guided one) of Islamic eschatologic prophecy, he must escape death. OBL is not dead, yet.
I think that Osama is in Qom, Iran, the same place as Iran's Supreme's Leader Sayyid Ali Khamenei. Remember Osama wants to bridge the gap between Sunni and Shia. The US has some control over the Musharraf government in Pakistan but not over Iran. That makes Iran the safest place for Osama. Qom and Mashad have important Muslim shrines so they are the safest cities in Iran for Osama. The Wali al Asr was hidden at Masjid Jamkaran in Qom. It would be the perfect place for Osama.
Even if the US or its allies take military action against the underground nuclear research facility at Natanz, the heavy water nuclear facility at Arak and the nuclear power plant at Bushehr, there will be no attack against the holy shrines in Qom and Mashad.

It's kind of obvious isn't it that he's hiding to avoid be caught. If he is alive and I think he most likely is, he is just laying low for a while. He's done that before. Most likey to avoid U.S. troops from getting too close. The more messages he sends, the more messages we can intercept. So no messages - no troops. (makes sense to me) He is being protected by someone over there. He isn't living alone.
As for the rumor about his death, I think it's just a rumor. Possibly made by his 'friends' to throw us off the track.
chances are he is Pakistan but who knows? I don't think he is in a cave as they can be damp and he would have gotten sick and died before now. So he is more than likely being 'protected'

I watched many programs from the History channel and CNN, etc.
Many of the analysis presume Bin Laden is hiding the northern part of Pakistan, Latkin (?) region. This area is all the way to up north, and is close to both Afganistan and China border.
The tribes living in this region is out of reach from the Pakistani central government, and they have strong respect to Bin Laden. There were a few attempts by the Pakistani gov. to capture Bin Laden by raiding villiages, but he slipped away.
The Pakistani gov. does not allow the U.S. troops to be stationed in their soil (maybe because the Pakistani people will fiercly oppose the foreign, and non-muslim army to be living at their land), so catching Bin Laden is even more difficult.
The recnt videos of Bin Laden has some intersting clues; he no longer wears Arabic clothes. Instead, his outfit is very close to that of the northern Pakistani traditional wear, and the video from 2 years ago show the background land scape, where there are trees and grasses with semi-rocky places. This also suggests that the video was shot at north of Pakistan as well.
Bin Laden is no loger as a great threat like the before of the 9/11. But still, he remotelly carries out the attacks on the west ( Madrid, London, Cairo, Turkey, Bali bombings) by commending his Al Qaeda followers through the video tapes and audio messages.
Despite the recent speculation Bin Laden might died of typhoid, most of the reliable sources do not seem to follow it.
Yes, they say Bin Laden is still alive and he is well.
Yes, he has sent the messages lately by video and audio recordings. The latest video was from the 5 year anniversary of the 9/11, posted at the Al Qaeda website. And before the video release, there were a couple of the audio messages broadcasted by the Al Jazeera. As you have imagined, the contents of the messages were same as before.
The reason for the shrinkage of the scale of the attacks is because his terrorism structure began crumbling, by the U.S. bombardment of their headquarters in Afganistan, capture of the key memebers of the leadership (Binalshiebh, Mohammed, etc.) and most of all, Bin Laden himself is on the run from the Americans.
A couple of more things to add; I really recommend you to watch any documentary of capturing Bin Laden. And at the same time, I want you to pay close attention to the Pakistani landscape. No developed road, no central authority (many autonomous regions) surrounded by the lots of mountains, many muslims supporting him, and many, many underground tunnel for him to escape.
The most critical difficulty in capturing Bin Laden is, his follower are strongly committed to their causes. No, not a single heirarches of his organization betrayed him over 50 million dollors reward. So the U.S. government raised the reward to 200 million dollars, but still no one has came up to the CIA. Bin Laden has very good relationships with the regional leaders, so when the raid is taking place, he is tipped in advence and takes inititive on running. Moreover, those regional Pakistanis RESPECT him. Bin Laden is a hero for them, so capturing him is like finding a needle in the desert.

I would say if the CIA knows where he is they won't try to leak the information to CNN or the History Channel as those media outlets wouldn't be likely to keep the information quiet merely for a few thousand American lives over being capable of releasing a phenomenal news story. All the news can say right now is guess work and if the anyone in the gov. knows where he is they aren't going to be telling us merely to satisfy our curiousity.

Personally, I think he is either dead or hiding because they are close to him. He is a major player in terrorisim, even if he didn't have anything to do with 911, but since he was on tape saying his group WAS responsible for the attacks on 9/11, I hope we accidentally got him in one of the bombings!

Yes, I think he is very much alive and just biding his time to set about another attack. Why is he hiding? Don't most cowards do that!! They get other people to do their dirty work for them.
